baerpath 517 #1 Posted February 2, 2008 Wondered what you use for shipping. I just got blanked by UPS for shipping a bagger system for a WH. Original quote was 100. made the deal get to UPS store shipping now was 156.00. Got to be a better way than UPS Any thoughts Duane

kj4kicks 154 #3 Posted February 2, 2008 Hi Duane, I use DHL Ground for all my heavy items. www.dhl.com Way cheaper that UPS !!
Sparky-(Admin) 23,151 #4 Posted February 2, 2008 I also use DHL. Theres an actual DHL terminal near work so its real convenient for me. I think those "mail box" type stores mark up shipping almost double. Mike.... PS...I moved this topic for you
nylyon-(Admin) 7,880 #5 Posted February 2, 2008 I'll leave the post here for now. Where is the item going? Maybe we can get the Wheel Horse Express going?
baerpath 517 #6 Posted February 2, 2008 Already sent it, just took the loss, Went to South Bend Ind. From another site. Have to look into DHL can't be more than UPS Duane
Nick 13 #7 Posted February 2, 2008 Duane, I use both UPS and FedEx. Most of the time FedEx is a few dollars less. Did you get the quote from UPS or UPS store? I tried the ups store one time and it was higher than the UPS.com quote was. I have never tried DHL, dont think we have one in the area for drop offs. kj4kicks 154 #8 Posted February 2, 2008 For about $3 or $4 DHL will also pick up a package at your house (or business). Also, most Office Max locations are DHL shipping and drop points. I don't mean to sound like a promo for them, but I use DHL alot. I just had them pick up a package at Tickster's place (middle of the boonies, IN) to deliver to me in PA. Sixty pound package, cost about $22 to ship it.
Nick 13 #9 Posted February 3, 2008 Havent been shipping much big stuff on ebay lately, might have to try out DHL sometime. Im not all the way into the middle of the boonies but it is still about 5 miles to FedEx, 9 miles to UPS and 13 miles to an Officemax. :D
baerpath 517 #10 Posted February 3, 2008 I used the on line calculator for the quote then went to the store to drop it off They refigured and doubled the shipping. 112lb box Didn't think it was that heavy I see DHL vans around so they are in the area, no more UPS even though my sweeter better looking and smarter better half worked for them (shush I need more parts from Vogel's) Duane
