8ntruck 6,969 #2 Posted July 31, 2020 When we were kids, one of my sisters would plant a few sunflowers in the garden. They'd grow about that tall. She would get really mad when the squirrels would start raiding the blossoms for the seeds.

Pullstart 62,698 #12 Posted August 25, 2020 The Goliath flowers are still reaching to the sun, meanwhile the little ones (same seeds, just less spacing) are beginning to give the garden some joy. These are seriously beginning to make me want some honey bee hives!
BHunter 1,700 #13 Posted August 25, 2020 Impressive. I’ve never seen sunflowers so big.
Pullstart 62,698 #14 Posted September 1, 2020 I’ll have to see if sunflowers have a certain gestation period or if they are driven by light cycles... the big ones are petering off and the little ones planted later are all kinds of happy!
Pullstart 62,698 #15 Posted September 3, 2020 The happy days of giants are quickly coming to an end. A few of the goliaths were chopped at the heads last night. The stalks are so tough, I wonder if they have any bamboo like qualities?
