Gas Man 19 #1 Posted July 20, 2020 How can I find out if my KT17 is a series I or II? I'm trying to sell my c175 and people keep asking which Series it is. I keep telling them "unless you live on a mountain side, it doesn't matter!" Serial # 12171150
pfrederi 18,670 #2 Posted July 20, 2020 Your serial number indicates 1982. ( probably series I) Spec number is the key. 24300 or higher is Series II It does if you have a ditch or embankment... I am hesitant to buy a Series 1. I have a series 1 transplanted from a JD 317 with well over 2000 hours still runs but smokes on start up can't knock that...but I know its its history, relatively flat land and well maintained....
bottjernat1 2,194 #3 Posted July 20, 2020 (edited) Here is the easiest way 1st photo is a series 1 2nd photo is a series 2. See the series 1 doesnt have the block to mount a oil filter the second does. These where 2 motors i had but sold. You need to look for this on the right side of the engine as it sits in the cradle.
