I’ve got a lot to learn about the 520 also. It’s a lot different than the mowers I usually work on but I’m having fun with it. Congrats on ur purchase

bds1984 1,500 #5 Posted July 18, 2020 She is still better looking than mine! I bet that with some wet sanding and oiling on the paint, it'll clean up even more.
Lee1977 7,224 #6 Posted July 18, 2020 The first thing you should is pull the fender pan, tunnel cover, lower hood stand cover and the engine covers and remove all the dirt grass and oil from it. Here is just a sample of what you'll find. I had already cleaned the engine, hydro and tunnel. Here are a cople of pictures after cleaning and treating the rust
peter lena 9,311 #7 Posted July 18, 2020 having done this a number of times , but not on a 520, i would go after the most obvious , rust and corrosion , i also have a two bolt flange bearing on the steering column to cross mount plate , on all three of my tractors , great opportunity . also a good time to washer up the PTO LEVER PLAY at side base of the battery tray,i used both steel and teflon washers and silicone grease , very solid smooth action. clean up and sand every electrical contact point and dielectric grease all slide ons , including fuses . also as you correct things refer back to what you have , so if you caused a problem , go back and verify the correction. keep us informed ,pete
