I recently started looking into whether or not I could even insure it and it is getting hard. I’m kind of done with the idea of having a bus. Weird, huh? I got thinking the other day. giddyap 1,568 #130 Posted May 23, 2022 (edited) The previous owners of our home built this deck on the shed with a view that invaded the neighbors privacy. The watchtower believe it or not was a lookout to spot deer, for their dogs ! After closing on our new to us house I repurposed the wood into a bridge for my daughter's property and create a landscape in front of the shed. I built the clear span mainframe with a "loaded" A frame. I used a turnbuckle attached to the top of the A and pulled an arch into the mainframe which would sag under weight to level. Without the arch weight would sag below level as if it was unsafe. I declared it a success when their golf cart crossed as designed and it was named the Hiawatha Bridge. Dan.gerous 2,696 #131 Posted January 31, 2023 One of our cooks goes by the nickname "The Dude" due to his laid back approach to life. His boss had been trying to get him to replace his galley safety boots, and it's been a long running war with no winner. Everytime new boots are ordered they mysteriously dissappear so the old ones can continue. As the conflict escalated the dude asked me if I could paint his boots red. Of course that was no problem, but me being me I thought we could do better than that. I hate myself sometimes, painting them red would have taken minutes, whereas the logo took hours of painstaking cutting out. It was worth it though! I have now been commissioned to do it to the new boots with proper leather paint - that way everyone wins and peace is restored to the galley. 5 5 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Introducing our "new" 10 seater sofa/computer desk complex. Made out of pallets and some packing wood that was up at the dairy parlour. *Features 8 x full depth drawers. *Computer desk. *Armrests & built in central coffee table. *Dog toy area where they can put toys back after I yell at them. *Built in backlighting *Full length back shelf for cups, cats, phones etc Just need some decent pillows to make it look a bit sexier. It's a small house so we were trying to maximise space, no coffee table helps make it feel bigger as well. The lights are really nice in the evening along with the glow from the fire. I like these sort of projects, cheap, but improve quality of life considerably. I even designed all the coasters! Depending on how i space / layout the skis, I'll need 4-6 pairs I think... Im cleaning out my brothers' supplies today so I should be good for this bench... Beap52 587 #144 Posted February 26, 2023 I used 1/2" blue board that is normally used for boxing on houses for the walls of my model train shop. I burned in the mortar joints with a wire wrapped around a small soldering iron. Then hand paint each brick. In fact, I seem to repurpose a lot of stuff. The grass on the small hill is actually foam, such as used in upholstery, that I grind with wire brush on electric drill and then run through a old sausage grinder until it's the texture I want then I dye it to various colors. The window "glass" in the train shop is plastic I salvage from TV screens. The white "oil tank" is a 2" PVC plastic pipe cap. Playing with model trains makes a fellow look at all kinds of stuff with a different eye. Last week we had communion at church. Our church is now using little plastic containers for the elements. Dan.gerous 2,696 #150 Posted March 21, 2023 It's calving time - 700 calfs to pick up into a wheelbarrow and then move to various sheds. Back breaking and they are covered in slime so incredibly difficult to lift. Decided a solution was required whereby we had a low wheelbarrow to slide them into. Used an old 4 wheel cart and a 200ltr plastic drum. Took a day of head scratching, bad welding and a splash of paint. It works an absolute treat! As the calving is often in the early hours, I added a spare wheel. That way if you get a flat at 3am when your half asleep it's an easy job to quickly change the wheel. 1 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
