giteup 2 #1 Posted April 30, 2020 New to the forum and just received a 520h with some wiring issues. Anyone know what the switch mounted to the inside of the rubber hood strap on the left side is?

lynnmor 7,725 #5 Posted April 30, 2020 That switch has a hose that attaches to the underside of the air filter housing. The nipple on the switch often breaks off, so use a lighter weigh hose supported in a way that takes the load off the nipple. If yours is already broken, at least plug the hose. I have repaired the switches with an aluminum part with a nipple screwed over the broken side. Source for switch.
giteup 2 #6 Posted April 30, 2020 Thanks a lot , I have got it running but someone has been in to the wiring. It appears the fuse block has been removed and two red and two white wires are twisted all together.
lynnmor 7,725 #10 Posted May 1, 2020 A Dorman 85668 fuse block is available many places. Rockauto has them for $2.88. Fuse block A fuse block cover is available from one of our vendors. There should be a white 9 pin connector near the battery. This connector is often a source of electrical problems, especially the heavier battery charge wire that heats a less than perfect connection. There are three relays behind the battery that have issues with corrosion particularly if stored outdoors. Download a manual with a wiring diagram in our manuals section, all too often wiring is attacked by folks that somehow think they have a better idea.

squonk 43,419 #14 Posted June 4, 2020 (edited) That 9 pin connector is a Molex plug. Anyone who works on a lot of electrical stuff knows that "Molex" is the American version of Lucas Electric from Europe. Google Joseph Lucas Prince of darkness. If you want some laughs: http://www.mez.co.uk/lucas.html When I had a 520 I tore out that connector and used 2 trailer connector sets to make up the 9 pins. Never had an issue after that. That explains the trailer plugs on my 520, I wondered who did that. Been a good tractor to me so far.
