What did you do today?

 Went to help my mate Dunc load his 1952 Land Rover S1 at his stepsons. This is an ongoing restoration as time allows. So far about 10yrs. He's taken it up to his property in Scotland. Body work etc was taken up there last week. Maybe progress, just maybe, things will get done a bit quicker.

Pretty usual day a work, actually got my hands a little dirty helping out one of the other departments with greasy sandy wiring. Tonight may be a trash pickup, and likely more trash tomorrow morning to the dump etc.Hopefully sometime I can finish up a print project by Monday and perhaps Sunday dig into gettin Dug prepped for Big Show(remove deck, paint rims and weights,some cleaning and Water Displacement Formula No. 40 etc.)

I started today the Basement of the new Pavillon i will build.

Firstly the main Posts than the Main Bars.

at least i be able to fix the distances with 2 Sidebars.

and yes, it‘s no optical illusion, the front right post is 5cm deeper compared to the rest

to get later a dedicated direction to catch the Rainwater from the roof.

 

 

 

But after it begins to rain i decided to go into the Workshop when i meet Harrold.

He is a young Fox, very curious.

When he see me, he gets in a Panic Attack and flee the fast as he can, but i can Capture him...

 

Back in the Workshop i reworked the electric Powersteering for the Backhoe Project.

It‘s worth a try if this will work.

Storage and dump out in the heat UGGH!

But on the bright side scored a 1" axle, rims, and tire off an abused garden trailer at the d.ump. Then on the way home an stop by HF to pick up a new dial indicator, and found some cool 12"×12"  rubber diamond plate pattern adhesive tile. $4.20 including tax and i now have replacement traction stuff for Dugs foot boards!

When we built Cinnamon Horse C160 I put reddish step tape on.  Worked great but it's now overdue to be replaced.

I'd be curious but somewhat concerned about winter traction.

Yesterday Trina and I met up with friends to go hike Stone Mt and Burnt Meadow Mt in Brownfield Maine. 

Nice leisurely paced  hike to help warm up the hiking muscles and start getting back in shape.

Burnt Meadow Mt is well known for a great caloric burn and good views. 

Being within a 1 hour drive of several metro areas it's also VERY popular.

Off in the far blue distance is Mt Washington and the rest of the Presidential Range

 

 

Here's a Rufous sided towhee. Not super common in the area. 

 

Shown here is the range we live on as seen from the top of Burnt Meadow. 

We're about 2/3 of the way down the far side where the arrow is.

Well.. MY feet arent THAT big! 

For the winter, thats kinda a fuzzy one...while the rubber may get cold and slippery, the knobbies(another Grey tech term) may not clog as easily as the sandpaper grit. For absolute best traction I bet a bit of extruded metal  on there would be perfect. Maybe 4 small bolts and washers?

If ya wanted to do the hole step, looks like 18"

Would be preferable, the drill or cut out for the bolts? Then that might trap moisture around your bolts..hmmmmm.

On my tractors I find a significant wear area is right at the bend shown in my modified version of your pic.

Mines not worn, but some PO black paint. Might try some acetone to clean that off carefully.

 

Then again, Dug isnt contending with big ol clodhoppers!

This has the same type backing adhesive as the traction tape. Seemed to have sealed and protected under there(where there were pieces left)

Maybe just allow for water to run away from those 2 bolt heads.
