If that's a feasible option id consider it for my Ford. A very small one..... Done right... they look ok. This pic will give you an idea of the overall dimensions.
ebinmaine 79,225 #9752 Posted Tuesday at 11:03 PM I'm getting farmed out from my own store to another one because they don't have a crane driver at the moment. By the time I got home today I had somewhere in the neighborhood of 325 miles driving. Left the house about 4:15 a.m. and got back by around 5:45 pm. Roughly 6 hours of that was driving. The rest was loading and unloading with either crane or forklifts. Similar tomorrow although I don't think I'll have as many miles. Could be close. 2
953 nut 66,769 #9753 Posted Tuesday at 11:59 PM Driving Miss Daisey. My wife had an appointment with a doctor in the big city, she doesn't like driving on interstates and in city traffic so I always drive her. Her report from the doctor was good so we celebrated with lunch at Cheddars. Good old comfort food makes the trip worthwhile. 1
8ntruck 8,978 #9754 Posted Thursday at 02:18 AM As we were starting to prepare breakfast, the well drilling crew showed up at the neighbor's place. Only problem is that the location they had marked for the well was a foot or foot and a half on my side of the property line. I pointed this out to the crew and said that we have a survey ordered. No argument from the crew - they don't want to drop as well in the wrong place. They picked a new spot and started thinking about how they were going to get their rig into position when they get the final go for the job. This story continues.......
c-series don 12,003 #9755 Posted Thursday at 02:18 AM It wasn’t what I did today, but over the weekend. My wife and I took our camper about an hour away to the east end of Long Island, to Montauk,NY. We got up early Saturday morning to catch the sunrise at the lighthouse. It’s a beautiful place to camp, right on the beach! In the village of Montauk I stopped to take a picture of The Memory Motel. Yes the one The Rolling Stones sang about! As they said The Memory Motel, it’s on the ocean, I guess you know it well! Technically it’s not on the ocean, it’s probably 1000’ away 😂 4
MainelyWheelhorse 2,704 #9756 Posted Thursday at 02:51 AM Worked a shift at work this morning, Then worked around the house for a while. I then visited relatives for a few hours in a weekly meeting called “Happy Hour” at my cousin Brian’s, Then picked up the basement/workshop and worked on my R/C car for a few hours. It’s a 1/5 scale Redcat Rampage that I got on my 30th birthday roughly 15 years ago. BTW that’s a roughly 4 foot diameter table. 7

It originally had only one, installed over the center of the trailer. It always did real well, but because our travels usually take us to Baton Rouge (an upcoming trip in mid July), we would really be in a pickle if our only air conditioner pooped out. So, I ordered a new one and installed it in the center, then wanted to install the old one over the rear bedroom where a roof vent already was. So today, I removed the vent, which was a Hammond vent with a two-speed fan. These Hammond vents had radiused corners as opposed to square. The opening in the roof was already 14", so I had to use some snips to sqare up the opening, then installed the air conditioner. Then, ran some romex and connected it to a breaker. Checked it out and it works well. So, It will be available if we need it! I still need to enclose about three feet of romex in some stick-on cover that I can get at Lowes. My next project will be to convert this trailer from 30A service to 50A service..... maybe this Fall when it's cool. We purchased a 1971 Holiday Rambler ~30' long. It had the original rooftop AC and was still going when we sold the camper last year. When I rebuilt the interior, I ran an additional wire to the rear roof top vent in the event we added an additional roof top air conditioner. One time when I was at the scrap yard, they had a motor home that had what appeared to have a fairly new rooftop air. (The fins were still clean looking.) I bought it for $25 and they even helped me remove it off the rooftop. I installed it and you could hang beef in the Holiday Rambler on the hottest of days. How I handled the extra power load was run a dedicated extension cord that we would plug into the power pedestal's 20 amp circuit.
8ntruck 8,978 #9758 Posted Friday at 01:04 AM More yard clean up today. Last weekend, I was scooping leaves out of the lake onto the shore. Today, Morgan, the 14-8, got some cart duty hauling the soggy leaves off of the shoreline. Next, I finished up cutting up the tree that fell out of the woods and into the neighbor's yard - not the whole tree, just the crown. I was using our recently acquired Milwaukee Hatchet pruning saw. Was using an 8 amp hour battery. Over 5 evenings of working on this for an hour or hour and a half, I finished the job with 1/2 of the battery charger remaining. 8ntruck 8,978 #9759 Posted yesterday at 12:17 AM The water pump parts for the Honda 20hp outboard got here a few days ago. I finally got around to installing them. As I was backing the pontoon into the lake and was thinking how easily the engine went back together. My little voice was saying "that was too easy, what's wrong". The engine had a lot of cranking, but no fire. It needed some go juce - which I did not have on board. Good sign, though, was the water coming out of the lower cowling. The pump was working, but I had forgotten to plug the telltale hose and carb drain hoses up to the nozzles in the cowling. Back to the house, set it all right, and grab some carb cleaner for go juice, and back to the launch ramp for a successful launch. I think I'll treat the first tank of gas this year with a 1/4 cup of ATF to get some extra detergents in the fuel system. I suspect that there is still some crud in the enrichment circuit.
adsm08 4,620 #9760 Posted yesterday at 12:58 AM (edited) I goofed off all day. I scheduled today off about a month ago to do a bunch of work, then finished it all last weekend. Went fishing for a bit, worked on the boy's tractor for like 10 minutes, actually got to mow today, took the doggos for a small hike, but they are small doggos. Right now I'm watching Ghost Busters: Afterlife. Edited yesterday at 12:59 AM by adsm08 2
8ntruck 8,978 #9761 Posted 22 hours ago (edited) Since I got the pontoon in the lake, I now know where the last piece of dock will be located. Stopped by the lumber yard and picked up the Tommy Dock bits and pieces to hold the dock up and got it out in the lake. Man, the Tommy Dock prices have gone up a bunch. Blue Chips 775 #9763 Posted 3 hours ago (edited) Since my previous post I opened up the transfer case of my 1954 M37 and discovered that my wallet would be going on a diet. The good news was that there was absolutely no discernable wear whatsoever on any of the parts, which isn't surprising given that the odometer reads just over 8,000 miles. The bad news was that there was a layer of water under the oil, and the resulting moisture/humidity caused shallow rust pitting on many of the bearing surfaces and on some gear teeth. There was also rust on the seal contact surfaces of the companion flanges. I'm on the obsessive side about getting things right, so I decided to replace every part that had ANY pitting at all even if it was just minor pitting. If the pitting was visible, the part is being replaced with new or NOS parts. Here are most of the old parts that I'm replacing: Below are the transfer case parts that I'll be using, clean as a whistle and ready for reassembly. I only ordered one used part, and it turns out that they sent an NOS part after all, so I was happy about that. The replacement bearings are all high-quality, well-known Japanese brands. Below is the case after multiple degreasing, scrubbing, and pressure-washing cycles, followed by masking, priming, and painting. I try to make a point of keeping paint off mating surfaces and out of threaded holes. I either cover the holes or place temporary bolts in them to keep the paint out. I always check threaded holes for cleanliness before assembly, and if for some reason I managed to get some paint in a hole, I chase the threads, clean the hole with solvent, and blow it out with compressed air. I'll be paying close attention to getting proper preload on all of the tapered roller bearing sets, which can sometimes be a bit tedious, as it may require several shim adjustments to get the preload just right per the manual. That reminds me that I need to order a few extra shims tomorrow. It's interesting to see the variety of ways that NOS parts have been packaged. Below is a replacement companion flange, which appears that it might have been packaged in 1963. The ridge on the metal lid didn't quite fit my can openers, so I just cut the cardboard to get it open. It's kind of like unwrapping a Christmas present, except that I'm the one paying for it. The brown stuff is just cosmoline that was sprayed on. There wasn't a speck of rust on it after decades in storage. Thle other NOS parts I ordered for the transfer case were equally rust free. I need to wait a few days for the paint on the case to cure thoroughly before doing any assembly work, so on to other tasks. I still need to finish reassembling my 522xi.
