8ntruck 8,829 #9551 Posted Tuesday at 01:38 AM The plumbers showed up today. Unloaded their mini excavator and waited for all of the utilities folks to mark where their various pipes and wires are located - none of which were in the area where the digging was going to take place. But, tis the law, and better to be safe than sorry. About 6 1/2 feet down, the sewer pipes were located. Big soggy soft spot around the house trap. The trap (clay piece) appeared to have a crack on the inlet side. Lots of buildup in the pipes, suggesting a slow flow for some time. The house trap is now gone, replaced with about 7 feet of 6" PVC and a clean out tee. Back fill is scheduled for tomorrow.

I showed up here. Park across the street. Nothing unusual. Started filling out the paperwork and I looked over to the pallets that I was about to go fetch and I see this.... Guard cat??!?

It seems to me that the utility folks make sure their side of the meter is covered but once it's on the homeowner's side, they don't seem to mark out those lines. The advertisements on TV state safety as a major concern and why they don't sound out lines up to the side of the house must be because some kind of litigation looking over their shoulders. When you started talking about sewer problems, the first thought I had was Orangeburg. That stuff should have never been put into the ground. At least you still had clay pipe. Now for the replacement deck!

OldWorkHorse 3,138 #9559 Posted Wednesday at 12:12 AM Spent the last few days cleaning up my tree line along the property. Wheel horse is definitely a big helper. Loaded up the trailer about 12 times to drive it all down the the big pile. Going to be getting a chipper here in a few days to make it all go away. Coming along nicely, I can finally walk into my tree line. 1

adsm08 4,405 #9567 Posted yesterday at 01:06 AM Tonight the boy and I went over to his girlfriend's house. Their tiller needs some work, so I picked that up to bring home, said boy is going to be doing the work. It's just a simple fuel line replacement, may need to clean the carb, don't know yet, and I'll have him go over all the grease zerks. Her (the GF) mom also asked me to sharpen the blades on their JD, that was bought used at the end of last season, because it's been cutting like crap. I jacked it up and found three new blades that were installed upside down, so the blunt end was doing the cutting. Flipped them over and that was that. 4

8ntruck 8,829 #9569 Posted 3 hours ago I got some seat time on the GC1720 today. I used the FEL to take several large, heavy items off of what is left of the deck and placing them on the utility trailer for a trip to the storage locker. Today's project about justified the purchase price since I didn't have to wrassle the items down the 4 steps to get them off of the deck. I'm seriously considering a set of forks for this thing. Deck is now clear and ready for further demolition. Muscle memory for the 2 pedal hydrostatic drive is improving. I only stabbed the forward pedal once with my right foot instead of pressing the brake with my left foot. For now, I'm only running the engine at 2000 rpm until I get smoother on the controls.

Sure makes the idea of a FEL appealing. 1 hour ago, 8ntruck said: I'm seriously considering a set of forks for this thing. Funny, I was just contemplating how to fab a set of small forks to attach to a snowplow frame. Nothing major - just for moving things like mower decks, rear ends, etc. from my shop out to the shed.
