What did you do today?

The plumbers showed up today.  Unloaded their mini excavator and waited for all of the utilities folks to mark where their various pipes and wires are located - none of which were in the area where the digging was going to take place.  But, tis the law, and better to be safe than sorry.

About 6 1/2 feet down, the sewer pipes were located.  Big soggy soft spot around the house trap.  The trap (clay piece) appeared to have a crack on the inlet side.  Lots of buildup in the pipes, suggesting a slow flow for some time.  The house trap is now gone, replaced with about 7 feet of 6" PVC and a clean out tee.  Back fill is scheduled for tomorrow.

Almost done with cutting the tree up. I'm sure giving the 20v batteries some exercise.

Part of my job is picking up credit after the work is done. We take pictures of pretty much everything that we do. I showed up here. Park across the street. Nothing unusual. Started filling out the paperwork and I looked over to the pallets that I was about to go fetch and I see this....

I tried to visit but it took off...

Ya know. If that was a dog? I wouldn't have ever gotten outta truck.

I figured I'd take my chances on the kitty though.

Good to get that job done.

It seems to me that the utility folks make sure their side of the meter is covered but once it's on the homeowner's side, they don't seem to mark out those lines. The advertisements on TV state safety as a major concern and why they don't sound out lines up to the side of the house must be because some kind of litigation looking over their shoulders.

When you started talking about  sewer problems, the first thought I had was Orangeburg.  That stuff should have never been put into the ground.  At least you still had clay pipe.

Now for the replacement deck!

Spent the last few days cleaning up my tree line along the property. Wheel horse is definitely a big helper. Loaded up the trailer about 12 times to drive it all down the the big pile. Going to be getting a chipper here in a few days to make it all go away. Coming along nicely, I can finally walk into my tree line.
