I had the same one, it got into a bag of trash that was better burnt than sent to the dump (light paper and such) and the handle exploded.

Sometimes this site gives me very bad ideas.

Pffft, like I've never had a nickname related to me setting something on fire or blowing something up before.

Hummmmm.  That tubular handle must be pretty well sealed.

You going to investigate further?

Drill a small hole in the handle.   Remove the temptation.

I'm almost afraid to ask.... how you might know that??

I recycle everything possible.    What can not be recycled is tossed in the burn barrel to be cleaned of plastic and rubber.    This includes items such as wiring, old electric appliances, drills, grinders and spray cans.  :scared-eek:

Some items accidently find thier way into the burn barrel.   Some that I know of are silverware, a Kodak PixProAZ255, A RADA paring knife, and my dust pan.

This RADA  knife is ugly but one of my best.    Perfectly tempered.

Ok, went out today to get in a couple of sled runs before it warms up next week. Braved the biting cold to make a video to prove it!

This run was from midway down the hill since I needed one hand for the camera and runs from the top are so fast I need both hands to hold onto the sled!

Duck tape your rear to the sled or better yet tape the camera to your head. Then give us a ride from the top.   :woohoo:

A little creative editing and there is a men's supplement commercial in there. :D

This afternoon at work I was helping one of the junior techs with a particularly stubborn brake job when I lost my grip on the torch and let the flame pass over my face.

I'm fine, but I burnt off half an eyebrow (the other half was under my torch glasses). Just waiting for the wife to notice.

Remember kids, wear eye protection when doing dumb things.

Hope for a quick recovery...

This time ask for the steel shingle and get a 50 year warranty...

Had a doctor's appointment yesterday for follow up on last week's eye ball rebuild.  Was also a pre appointment for getting the other eye ball rebuilt early next year.

All is going as it should be.  I'm finding that i don't really need my glasses when I'm not reading or doing close work - that is taking some getting used to.

My current glasses are prescription Z rated safety glasses.  Put the side shields on and they are shop ready.  I will end up needing reading glasses - which are a pain in the shop.  I think i will get a set of Z rated bifocals for shop usewith readers in the bottom half and no correction in the top.

Just had my annual eye exam. I've been developing a very small cataract in one eye, but it's far from large enough to merit removal. Like you, I'm planning to order some prescription safety glasses with removable side pieces. I think I'll check online to see if I can save some money. I just ordered two sets of lenses for two of my existing frames from the local optician, and after adding in the high-diffraction (thinner) polycarbonate lenses, progressive prescription, hard coating, anti-reflective coating, and polarizing for the sunglasses, it took me a while to get over the sticker shock. Insurance took a bite out of it, or maybe just a nibble would be more accurate.

Maybe this should be in Tools, but it's what I did today.

I was just trying out my newly-acquired cheap borescope from Vevor. It plugs in to my iPhone, has both end-view and side-view cameras, variable LED lighting, and takes videos and still images. IIRC, the resolution is 1920 x 1440.

Considering the low price (about 24 bucks and free shipping), I was quite satisfied with the image quality from both cameras.

Here's a view from the side camera, looking underneath the throttle linkage assembly of my 522xi.

Here I'm taking a photo of the fine print on a candy tin:

Image of the tin from the end camera. The halftone dots in the printed image show up pretty clearly.

The video resolution is just as good. The frame rate seems a bit slow to me, but for its purpose it's very usable and clear.

There's also a little hook and a magnet that you can attach to the end of the camera for retrieving objects.

They're super handy. I have an old rigid-tube borescope that I bought at a military surplus sale years ago, but there are a lot of situations where I haven't been able to use the rigid kind...and it doesn't take photos. This one should be much more useful. The instructions are 'fair,' considering the cheap price, but you have to read them over a few times to answer all of your questions, such as 'How do I change from the end camera to the side camera?' (long push on the nearly invisible little button on the LED controller on the cable), etc.

For several weeks I've been poking around online at cameras.

I could really use one for the K582 on Colossus.

The (!^#&$*#*!%  mice have been around the engine. ....  perhaps IN there..??

Just had my annual eye exam.

A few weeks ago now, but I heard the magic words: “No, you don’t need a new prescription."

Haven’t had the borescope out for a while, but the grandchildren are fascinated with it. They scope under and/or behind all the furniture and beds, occasionally finding interesting stuff. They’re allowed to look in certain closets and the pantry, too. Keeps ‘em busy for at least an hour or so.
