adsm08 2,931 #8302 Posted Tuesday at 06:52 PM I left work at lunch time to go to my son's "5th grade graduation". I think the whole thing is a bit ridiculous, since it isn't really that big of an accomplishment, especially since No Child Left Behind was passed, which is at least equally ridiculous, but it was special for him, and I had the time to take, so I did. Now I'm waiting for a Dr. appt at 4 because I think I have an ear infection, 4 days after finishing a course of anti-biotics for a different infection.

adsm08 2,931 #8305 Posted Tuesday at 08:56 PM Well, good news is no infection yet. Fluid build up that could turn into one if not drained. She told me double shot of Flo-nase a few times a day for a few days.
nylyon-(Admin) 7,825 #8306 Posted Wednesday at 03:35 PM My neighbor asked for help, he said the engine on his craftsman was blown and needed a tractor. I was able to get a nice Workhorse Automatic off of a member here and helped haul it from Mass. to NY for my him. Anyway, the “blown” engine was a Briggs Intek OHV which was burning a LOT of oil. Told my neighbor I would take the craftsman for him, here’s what I found, from what I hear, it’s pretty common: Got everything all cleaned up, new gasket and runs great now!

lynnmor 7,693 #8308 Posted Wednesday at 04:57 PM BTDT on a 17.5 B&S. Just look at the distance the head bolts are apart at that point. What could possibly go wrong? It is a good idea to flatten the head, they warp as well from the stupid design.

It's common to find paper towels stuffed in the intake runner?

That is actually the passage to the block that the push rods go through. When the head gasket goes bad, that is where is sucks oil into the cylinder and super pressurizes the crankcase.

The one guy was doing the intake on his own truck for the second time that week. I didn't see the first time, but I'm told he did the intake gaskets, hit the key, and it just wouldn't start. He forgot to pull the rags out of the runners.
MainelyWheelhorse 1,322 #8315 Posted yesterday at 03:24 AM Today, was a bit of working on the C141 this morning. House hold upkeep to 3:30. Visiting with relatives to 7:30, then picking up my mess from working on the C141, and relaxing to whenever. I’m on call to Friday, when I have a shift at work. So, it’s been getting tractor and house stuff done to then unless something changes.
ebinmaine 71,739 #8316 Posted yesterday at 09:56 AM Got us another new tent to try out. The frame and top are something we had already. It's the interior tent portion that's new. Measures about 9 ft 6 across each side on the interior. The best part is, I can stand up and walk around at any point inside this. Corner to corner. Most tents don't allow you to do that because they are shaped in a curve.
Ed Kennell 41,270 #8317 Posted 19 hours ago Several weeks ago I picked up this park bench project for $5 at the auction. My SIL saw it and said " I wish I had one". Well, last week I got another one for $5. I had to make all new slats and got it finished today. I'll deliver it Saturday for her 50th anniversary.

Pullstart 65,632 #8320 Posted 1 hour ago The grandparents have been keeping me quite busy lately. Mrs. P was out of town for work M-W this week and I was supposed to be doing a last shop push to get Big Show ready. One grandpa had open heart surgery this week, and I visited in the hospital a bit with him. He likes tractors and hot rods. We had lots to talk about. Another grandpa had a RR wheel bearing and axle seal go bad on his truck. That became a fiasco, when we found the tone ring for the ABS to be torn up inside the axle tube as well. The third grandpa, had the latch on his trailer break. Before I could get there to inspect, he had removed the latch assembly with the hot wrench. I cleaned up some of the tongue, and got to work with the ole’ buzz box and some 6011 rod. It’s been 20 years or so since I stick welded. It was a chore, but became more fun as I went. I returned home with a full belly and some big C-clamps! 1

Pullstart 65,632 #8323 Posted 1 hour ago My last grandparent passed in 2004. I was married in ‘07 and gained three sets (steps included) I enjoy the time I spend with them, learning and swapping stories. The one in the hospital told me that he front engine rear wheel drive 327 swapped a VW Bug one time! He pulled into a service station for fuel and parked with the rear near the pump. The gas attendant asked him to back up, the nozzle wouldn’t reach the front boot
