Still waiting on my truck to be repaired. I cant go anywhere as its my only vehicle. Trying to decide what tractor I might have to sell to pay for everything. New starter, new compressor for AC, some kind of knuckle in the steering column, NYSI, and oil change. Truck only has 20k miles on it but thats what happens when they sit for so long.... ugh

Honestly?

i would check the knuckle in steering that is safety relevant, maybe just an worn ball joint,

that could be changed self.

also a Starter can be fixed by yourself, cheap replacement starter and you’re fine.

 

 

AC compressor?  

I didn’t have any AC in my Cars since decades and i still survived.

you have Windows they can be opened.

 

An AC is not worth selling a horse. IMHO.

Finished painting the tank, clean cabin tonight and then drive home in the morning for two weeks leave.

 Took the Santa Fe in for it's service and M.O.T. Also to have some minor damage a garage customer did, to the nearside rear quarter panel repaired.

 

 Cut and split some big lumps of tree stumps this afternoon. They'll fit in my log splitter now.

Been playing trying to make some cylinder end caps for a friend who is an air gun enthusiast. 

No caps to copy just an M24 x 1 thread to cut on the lathe and some way of using an O ring seal. 

Looks ok but apparently will not hold pressure. Maybe the seal is not compressing enough.

Never said I was an engineer.

I also did a load of digging in the garden, loaded 400 used house bricks into various vehicles ( mrs W sold them on gumtree so made a bit of money to plough back into the garden)

Not to mention cutting the grass so not a bad day to say we were forecast thunder storms.

   Split the logs I cut up yesterday and just as I was finishing, my neighbour brought me some more. Lumps he couldn't split by hand. So out with the chainsaw to cut them down a bit to make handling easier and safer. Saw bench reduced them even more and splitter finished them off.

Been playing with the exhaust parts I got this week.

 

Made a flange for the head and an end plate for the silencer barrel.

 

Silver soldered the tubing in which will be fine for the temperature involved.

I have done in the past, just wanted to get on the road so never bothered changing, but it gets uncomfortable after five hours.

Have worked at a few different sites of the past couple of years.  Currently we are rehabbing a home duplex that will be purchased by a couple of families.  Work includes everything from siding, framing to concrete work. Trade work is done by licensed professionals as required by code.  This week I re-framed a doorway, erected pump jack platforms so we could then do the siding on the two story building as well as hanging drywall.

Helped today a workmate and fella.

he bought last week a 52 year old Zündapp in a pretty nice condition but he had some troubles to get it run properly.

it is a simple 2 stroke Engine, i know from my beginning time of driving.

When i do a quick testdrive the Engine seems to stall sometimes, especially if you quick pull the Throttle to max.

I told him - definitely a Fuel issue.

 

Firstly we do a complete Cleanup on the Carb, but just a little bit of dirt was in,

the bowl was so far clean and the nozzles seem‘s no clogged, 

than he fill it completely with new mix Fuel and i do another Testdrive.

 

Same happens again.

I told him, let‘s cleanup the Fueltank and he meant nono, no way, the others all had said no needed, it must be an ignition issue.

cannot be a fuel issue.....

 

So i give it a Try and remove the complete the fueltap and mount a bigger hose onto.

Than we flush the whole tank 5 times...

 

first flush

 

second flush.....

 

 

third flush..... awesome - huh 

 

4- th and 5 th flush.

i didn‘t expected that much of dirt and rust but i got the right decision.

it was unbelievable how much rust we removed.

this where 2 Mug’s full of Rust. 🤪and there still is some more.

 

But because this Tank is Part of the Frame, we decideded we fill it up to max with pure fuel and let it sat until tomorrow

to release that rust and if he didn‘t come to a final status tomorrow,

we clean it out once more with a pure Fuel to remove all the rest oil of the mixture,

dry the Tank out and use a sand blasting rig to cleanup that Fueltank finally.

Sold one of my other mowers, a Westwood Laser L95. It was in pretty good condition, with a non rusty deck.

 

In theory that means I can fill the space with another wheelhorse....

We only have hose spigots on our house hooked to the water softener.  I know it’s bad for garden plants, but good to use for washing (and drying) a vehicle or tractor.  I am running a non-softened spigot for the garden.  I didn’t realize that the roots of a plant will cost themselves with salt and begin to choke themselves of water!

Been saying we need a little excavator for years, now she has finally agreed that we need one, just have to be persistent and I eventually get my own way.
