Those look like  a file from your phone or PC?

I can't download such things onto my phone because of lack of memory. I can only watch them on YouTube.

YouTube accounts are free to use and help this site greatly.  Videos take a ton of memory to store on here and seem harder for the end user to load as well.

Ive done that in the past- agreed! Figured posting directly from the phone would save a couple steps but not diggin how it posts. Going to put em up on youtube now and repost:handgestures-thumbup:

Last but not least- the big block 654- 11hp OHV, straight 1 3/4". I have a baffle on a chain that gets dropped in the pipe when needed to tone down. GPS confirmed 28mph:lol:

Thanks fellas! Absolutely love that machine, whatta hoss!

Now if only they had offered the big Onan in a long hood model like that 1277, and backed it with an 8 speed.

Hmm......8 speed would be a 1257, correct?  Might have just figured out the next project:lol:

Back in the sixties they had three speeds and six speeds. The designation changed around 1968 or 9 when they moved the location of the brake drum.

At that point they became known as 4 speeds or 8 speeds.

To the end user it was basically the same transmission.

So your model number back then would have been 1257 equaling a 3-speed and 1267 equaling a six-speed.

You can most certainly put an 8-speed in where a 3-speed used to be. I've had one running and driving but the very very slight difference in configuration made it so that the belt did not last given a lot of directional or stop and start changes.

If it was a  tractor that you weren't going to use for a lot of back-and-forth plowing like I was it would have probably been perfectly fine.

I know several of us have made that modification with good success.

Referencing my own post and resurrecting it:lol:

Having so much fun with the older Horses, all 'stacked' in one way or another, but its time to quiet the 'lawn duty' 1277 down a bit. Its had a few different mufflers attached. 1 3/4" straight pipe with a Khrome Werks Harley baffle- awesome, but not for long term or neighbors.

Kemp muffler with chrome turnout- awesome-er, but sounds much better on the custom with the hopped up K321 I just built, still barks too much for cutting grass.  Currently running Tractor Supply's FO-4 IIRC, maybe a Nelson? Sound is great like Kemps, but the 12hp powering a hydro and swinging a 42" deck is under a constant load, so she still barks.

Lets 'hear' some quiet options, no pun intended. Stack is a must.

I am waiting for quiet.  Better for the neighbors and my wife.

greent - you might need to get creative

( but fortunately for you that is no problem ! )

maybe you can get a spark arrestor or similar from another muffler / and insert / weld into your stack

the mufflers I've had with spark arrestors did the best job of taming the noise (of the motorcycles I've had)

also - don't overlook the wall thickness of the muffler / stack itself ...  increased wall thickness can lower decibels ... some pipes / mufflers are double wall ...

not sure if this would be an option - but an adjustable diffuser like used on a Super Trapp muffler would be kinda cool

possibly install at end of the stack ... inside the stack ... ??? ...

As much as I love a loud engine, all our tractors are workers.

They need to be audio friendly.

Believe it or not it's an easy fix.

Get a cub muffler off the fleabay for 25 or 30 bucks.

Use a 45 bend off the engine block to get the muffler out from under the hood and turn it to the sky.

That's the set-up I have on Patriot Horse.

Quiet. Mellow deep tone.

Sounds great.
