Zeek 2,286 #1 Posted April 19, 2020 So like most of you who have been at home, I have been catching up on a few things. For me the following: I finally got to finish all the wiring/lights/water to the garage. I used 4' damp location LED direct-wire lights I got from 1000bulbs.com. Very happy with them. Snap in mounting brackets included. Garage doesn't get wet, but it's very humid in FL at times and things get damp. $35 or so each which was pretty reasonable. I used 8 (4 per side) that fit exactly on the 4' roof braces. Building 24' x 40'. Posted for "intruders" Lights I used. I FINALLY got the 1276 up and running and took her out for a spin. And decided to put fatty red spark plug wires on my Harley. Hope all is well. Fortunately, we don't know anyone (friends/family) with the Covid thing so far . . . . can't wait to get back to business 8 7 1

squonk 42,735 #3 Posted April 19, 2020 (edited) I can't believe your not at the beach with all of those nuts ZEEKY! Couple of observations: Tool boxes 2 far away from each other Fans too small Ford wider than the door Aluminum ladder No Teckys in the pic Nice shop. How hot is it going to get in there? After Penndot pays a visit and reclaims their signs, you can put a big honking fan up where that turnpike sign is! Edited April 19, 2020 by squonk
rmaynard 15,938 #4 Posted April 19, 2020 (edited) You've come a long way since my visit last October. With temperatures here only in the 40's, I long for another visit, but with this Covid thing, I'm not sure when that will happen. My brother in law who lives over in Leesburg, is ready to head north. He says he's ready for some cooler weather. Haha. The lights look great. I'm gathering lights for my building but with electric not run yet, no sense in putting them up. I'm still sorting the old sheds. No one in my immediate circle of family or friends has the Covid thing, thank goodness. Keep up the good work. That building will be filled in no time. However, Sue might want you to build a stall or two for her horses. Edited April 19, 2020 by rmaynard
adsm08 2,745 #5 Posted April 19, 2020 I'm getting sick of my governor's over-emotional over-reaction (he's been doing things lately that actually go against CDC guidance) and I'm about to attempt to turn armed protest in front of the governor's residence into a "stay at home" activity. I notice that the Harrisburg, Lancaster, York, and Cumberland County area is one of the high death rate hot-spots in PA. Please be patient and stay well. I see it as a good time to catch up on some of my WH projects and home repairs. Jim

I happened to be working when they decided to redo the PA RT 15 and E Winding Hill Rd. interchange years ago. They were laying in a pile and the PADOT foreman let me have them! It's going great, barring any unforeseen circumstances I''ll never live north of here. Although you do have to respect the sun, I just had to have a pencil eraser size skin cancer removed from my one forearm two week ago. Here's the Techy! One of these days I gotta mount the sickle bar I got from @AMC RULES ! 3 hours ago, jabelman said: what type of building kit was that? looks nice It is a was a SBS building out of the Carolinas. Of all the freaking things to close when people are supposed to stay home all day Fortunately they kept them open here, plus you don't have to go a "beer distributor" to buy regular priced beer, everywhere has it here. There are no separate beer stores. All that did was give more money to Maryland if you know what I mean. . . Edited April 19, 2020 by Zeek 1

One of the guys I work with lives in Newberry, 53 miles from his house to the nearest open liquor store across the Mason-Dixon. He organized a run for Saturday and is bringing an obscene amount of alcohol to work tomorrow. As for Wolfy, I've been saying for a while now that the best thing about the man is that he is term limited.

Jim My issue at the moment isn't the shut down of "non-essential" businesses or the "stay home" order, it's the masking order. I might be OK with it, except it goes directly against the most recent CDC guidelines which say that by and large masking is likely to be at best ineffective and at worst could actually raise the infection rate as people not used to wearing them are likely to fiddle with them, making touch their face more. Further masks don't seem to be highly effective in reducing transmission. Of course this is all being done under the advice of the state Sec of Health, who has a tenuous relationship with reality, and using a set of numbers that is skewed to the high side to begin with and are constantly being revised downward. Well right now they are telling me I am considered essential, that I have to go to work, and now that I have to wear a mask that another more medically oriented group (CDC) is telling me ain't gonna do nothing. Add all that to the fact that I have a thing about stuff over my face and the masking order is really chafing me. I guarantee I'll get ticketed for not wearing one and then hauled off for fighting with the officer over it, but Peduto signs laws that blatantly violate the letter and spirit of state preemption laws, with Wolfy's blessing, and the DA declines to pick up the criminal complaints that were filed the next day.

Zeek 2,286 #15 Posted April 20, 2020 The Governor here has done a pretty good job of being reasonable yet careful given the changing circumstances. There is no "mask order," but having gone out today probably about 60% have them on and most people respect the distance at grocery stores/Walmart. Some small business like barber shops and and the motorcycle shop I was at (to get tire mounted) are not ordered to close. I personally have just been whacking my own hair for now, just because I don't like being close to people. But at least the economy here hasn't been burned to the extent PA has.
