Tractorhead 9,209 #2 Posted April 12, 2020 Hi and Welcome to Did you try to run it with an open Fuelcap Next thing i would check is all electric Connectors, pull them, if corroded clean them and put it with dielectric grease again together. That would be my first checks.
peter lena 9,273 #3 Posted April 12, 2020 sounds like an electrical short. do you have the pto engaged when it happens ? check out your fuses or any obvious corrosive wire connection areas . movement related wire shorting or similar .pete
Plowboy154-7 1 #4 Posted April 12, 2020 Throttle position does not matter. I have a MF 12 snow blade on it so I don't use pto. I pushed dirt with it for a couple of hours it would only do it every once in a while, just enough to be a pain. It would back fire sometime when it dies. I didn't see any corrosion but I didn't want to tear it apart before I got done with what I was doing. I will check electrical connections next. Thank you for the help
SylvanLakeWH 28,405 #5 Posted April 12, 2020 I’d also evaluate your fuel supply system... Cap vent unplugged as @Tractorhead suggested? Fuel filter plugged? Gunk in the carb? I would shoot some carb cleaner into the carb while running wide open a few times... And
Achto 29,402 #6 Posted April 12, 2020 The back fire that you described when it shuts down would have me searching for an electrical issue. Sounds like you are momentarily loosing power to the ignition coil.
Tractorhead 9,209 #7 Posted April 12, 2020 (edited) @Achto but that can also be a too lean Fuel Air Ratio. I have on several Engines backfire when i used a Canister twice, sometimes for Diesel and sometimes with Fuel. few drops are enough, to clog the Bowl and lean the Fuel Air ratio until backfire occurs. i‘m more on the Carb site as you describe your problem. Maybe a clogged or hanging Bowl valve in the carb or too less Fuelflow. It can maybe even a drip of Water in the Carb bowl, that happens this effect. Remove the Carbbowl and check, if it was clean. If you see one or two bubbles in the Fuel, you have maybe a Bit Water or even Diesel in your Fuelsystem. i guess you filled with Canister, maybe there was before another fluid in. Did your Tractor sit‘s inside or under a roof? If it sits outside and a bigger temperaturedrift was happen, the Fuelcap can such Water in on a rainy day. Plowboy154-7 1 #8 Posted July 19, 2020 It has been a little while but I have a little bit to add. I was using 416-H recently and the stopping started again. If I can turn off key and back on quick enough it stays running. I have checked every connection I can get to and It still dies. Any more ideas would be greatly appreciated

Plowboy154-7 1 #10 Posted July 20, 2020 I will try that thank you
Tuneup 1,452 #11 Posted July 20, 2020 You can also bypass all the ciurcuitry by shorting the coil (+) to the battery. If the problem goes away, at least you know its not fuel related.
