No start after stalling

Recommended Posts

Hello. My tractor was running great.  Taking up a hill gave it more throttle and it sputtered and stalled.  The lights light up then went out (seat switch parking brake those lights) I was able to pull it to flat ground.  Oil level is fine.  No blown fuses.  Won't crank no click or anything.  I tried jumping the solenoid cranks but no spark.   The test switch for the instrument cluster doesn't work anymore.   I'm leaning towards ignition switch.  I just don't want to replace stuff.

Thank you I've tried another battery out of a working tractor same issue.  Don't think it's battery.  I cleaned all the ground connections.  It's weird it ran and stalled won't do a thing now.

There are a lot of electrical connections that could cause a problem. Some are behind the dash and many of them including your fuse holders are near the battery and are subject to corrosion. Clean them all while you are at it or you will run into more problems later.

agree with 953 on grounding  /  connection issues , especially behind dash , usually lots of grass debris and frayed /  corroded wire at ign switch. on the other hand ,  " you don,t want to replace stuff  ". if you do decide to replace the ignition switch, i would also replace the wire harness that goes to it. you can get the pair for a little over $ 20 . sounds like you also have a safety switch issue . if nothing else , get some  DIELECTRIC GREASE  and lightly sandpaper off every electrical connection , and add a small amount of grease to stop corrosion and enhance electrical flow. do you have another w/h  owner near you ? that might give you a hand ? good luck with your issue , pete

It really sounds like you have an electrical issue. A multi-meter or a simple test light will be very useful to help find the problem. Start by making sure that you are getting power to the switch, then move on to power coming from the switch to the various functions.

Adding some color to this one and making corrections. More pages to do for this model.

Have you checked the obvious - Is the PTO disengaged? Do not ask me why I know that... :hide:

It also smells like maybe a safety switch - PTO or seat?
