Since engine parts aren’t what they used to be, when replacing pistons rods etc. take the new parts to the machine shop and let them do the measuring and fitting. That way if a part is a few thousandths off the machine work may be able to compensate for it. No shop is going to warranty a job when things aren’t checked during assembly.
