Shaker 6.6 5 #1 Posted April 2, 2020 Anyone know how to remove the fuel shut off out of my fuel tank I want to replace it because the old one is clogged up not sure if I just take a pair of pliers and pull it out from the bottom or does it come out through the tank or what is my best option of getting it removed without damaging the fuel tank

roadapples 6,983 #3 Posted April 2, 2020 Comes out from the bottom. Spray it with liquid wrench, crc, wd40 or whatever you have on hand... 2
RandyLittrell 3,906 #4 Posted April 2, 2020 (edited) You can replace it and the grommet for about $10 or so. Getting ready to do that to my 310-8 myself. I think I bought mine on Amazon, but it was last fall and I don't remember right now. And yes just pull it out then put the new grommet in first, then lube the valve and push it in while turning. 953 nut 60,373 #11 Posted April 3, 2020 A pair of visegrips and a stout pull will get the old one out. I think @rmaynard has new valves and bushings for sale, that is where I bought mine last year. They do need to be well lubricated going in.
Pullstart 67,080 #13 Posted April 3, 2020 Looks like you’re all fixed up on the fix, so I’ll say
Lane Ranger 11,448 #14 Posted April 3, 2020 Caution: Look carefully at the grommet and the bottom of the tank before removing the valve and grommet. These older plastic tanks can crack or break and the grommet can be dry rotted . As noted by others spraying wd40 or some lubricating spray can help loosen up the rubber in the grommet.

Rob R 977 #16 Posted April 3, 2020 What Lawn Ranger said have the new on hand, since you will probably need it, if you can gently heat the area a little with a hair dryer helps along with the wd40 to pop it out.
