wallfish 18,244 #3 Posted April 2, 2020 Charger 12 1968 -72 It appears more like an early one from the looks of the hood. If you find the SN this file will help you and for any future finds as well wheelhorseallyears.pdf
pfrederi 18,714 #4 Posted April 2, 2020 Not sure the hood is correct. i have never seen a Charger without headlights....

roadapples 6,983 #6 Posted April 2, 2020 I have a 68 Raider with same hood but has foot boards instead of stirrups. Pretty sure it's original...
pfrederi 18,714 #7 Posted April 2, 2020 (edited) Something is off. It has a headlight switch but no sign of holes near the center of the seat pan for the single tail light Chargers had. Edit: More anomalies. Rigged for a hydro lift which would have been an option on Chargers. Do not see signs of the mounting bracket for the manual PTO but neither to I see a switch for an Electric PTO. Edited April 2, 2020 by pfrederi

Its sat there for years. Dad bought it with another motor, not original. I was just wondering.

pfrederi 18,714 #10 Posted April 2, 2020 Even Early Chargers had foot boards. 877 1077 and 1277 had stirups and no head lights. Is there a tag on the hydro???

If you decide to put it together I've got an engine and the right hood.
953 nut 60,367 #12 Posted April 2, 2020 It appears to be a Frankenhorse. The interchangeability of parts from model to model and year to year makes it hard to nail down what it began life as. I am inclined to think it was built in the 1965 or 1966 or so time period. The seat is of that time period as are the foot rests. That being said you could bolt those parts on too so who knows. At any rate, it looks like a good project and when it is finished you can name it whatever you want!

My guess is it would be 3100077 which would be 1965, 1966 or 1967. That coupled with the metal seat makes it a 1965 or 1966 because in 1967 it would have a fiberglass seat.
Pullstart 67,068 #17 Posted April 3, 2020 What are your plans for it? If it’s to be used for parts, could I call dibs on the motion control stuff? I bought a roller last year at the show and gave away half of what I needed to make room on the truck by the end of the show

Who's to say what happened when but I've seen pics of others in 67 with metal seats. Maybe leftovers like the Ponds were known to do? 1
pfrederi 18,714 #19 Posted April 3, 2020 Look at the end plate circled in yellow for Model # of Sunstrand. I agree with 953nut this is older than a Charger.

ebinmaine 73,010 #24 Posted April 4, 2020 Once we get back to society throw the ol Man in the truck and come see us. No need to make that a parts machine. Make it a runner! 1 1
c-series don 10,154 #25 Posted April 4, 2020 All I can say here is “You guys know your stuff “ It’s funny how it seems everyone has their niche, some guys know more about the 50’s and 60’s tractors some guys 70’s and 80’s etc. Then there’s the elite, the gurus that know damn near everything about our tractors! The one thing that we don’t have here is people that are arrogant or condescending in there reply’s to someone who doesn’t know all that much about them. Someone says it here almost everyday so I’ll say it today “ You won’t meet a nicer, more helpful group of people than you will on Red Square!” 3
