BELT SIZE for K301 starter/charger ?

I have a model 1257 with the combined starter & charger, and need a belt for it.   I did a search here on RS, and found a WH number 1593, but that didn't fit.  It's about 2 inches short and doesn't allow the belt guard to line up.   Also puts extra pressure on the charger bearings.  Looks like it would fit the 8hp, but not the 12hp.  Anyone have a different number for the 12hp ?

Either a 34 or 35 Jim 3/8 or 3L width...CRS … I got it somewhere here  hang tight..

I tried the 1593, and it is 35" long, but it's too short.  It causes the charger pulley to hit the belt guard because it doesn't line up.  Don't know whether to go with a generic 36" or 37" belt.

That's bizarre ...pretty sure all mine are a 35". get a 36 and 37 and take back the one that don't fit. Would think a 37 would be way too long.

I tried a 36" belt from Tractor Supply, and it was way to big.   I'm beginning to think that the WH belt is labeled wrong.  I bought it on ebay, and think that the PO had the same problem.   I'm going to NAPA tomorrow to try their 35" belt.

Take the fleabay belt to Napa Jim and have them put it on the belt measuring thingy. They'll help you out as long as @squonk ain't  behind the counter.....Does the fleabay belt have numbers on it?  A 35 should work fine last a long time...

I put the #1593 belt on a belt gauge, and it measured a little less that 34".  It was just too short on a K301.   Either mis-labeled, or poor QC from WH.

Bought a NAPA 3L350w belt (35" long), and it fit perfectly.

I have been using the Napa 25 series belts for these. They are notched, a little thinner width wise and seem to fit better. of course they are more expensive than say a 3l series belt. Time to get those numbers off of my tractors and write them down!

Ok on Big Block engine’s it’s a NAPA 25-7345 which is a .41” width x 35”

 

Small blocks use a 25-7320 which is .41” width x 32.5”

Is the belt labeled as a 1593? Save it for a 161 or 181.

@WHX24 never mess with a counterman. Or ex counterman for that matter. We have (had) buttons. My favorite one for the wise guys was L+10. (List plus 10%)
