Wire gauge from the points on my K321

I've moved the coil on my C-145 to the other side of the block and have a longer spark plug wire thanks to someone on this forum but I also need to extend the wire from my points back to the coil.  I imagine a new wire instead of splicing in a bit is the right way to go.

 

Before I go and just try and match it at the local hardware store, any recommendations or pointers on the wire, material, etc for the best result?

I just use 14 gauge wire on every points wire I ever replaced. Doesn't have to be anything fancy. You can get wire in rolls at lowes, home depot, tractor supply, a local hardware store etc.
