Tach-a-matic 357 #1 Posted December 24, 2019 Getting on and off of them! I normally approach from the d-side and put my left foot on the footwell, stand up on it, and then pivot the right leg around. Well yesterday my (wet) left foot slipped during the move and now there is a huge welt on the inner part of the shin bone. The lift lever gets in the way too and does not help things. How do you BIGGER guys mount and dismount? Happy holidays
ebinmaine 73,015 #2 Posted December 24, 2019 Okay. I got this. I made up a video special for you. I had to go to the thought process and ingenuity of figuring out how to hold the phone because I don't have a tripod on a stand or any of that fancy-schmancy stuff like some of you high technology fellows do. Aforementioned phone carrying mechanism involves a can of WD-40 spray penetrant and the table of my drill press. 8 1
pfrederi 18,716 #3 Posted December 24, 2019 Get an L107 Lawn Ranger. Much easier to get on and off. Swing you leg over and you are on. That is why she my chore tractor lots of stops starts mounts and dismounts

JCM 10,251 #5 Posted December 24, 2019 Just my for an otherwise great video I remember back in the early 90's while using the 312-8 I stepped on the left footpad which did have some ice on it and slipped and ended up coming down on the lift lever which was holding the 48'' dozer blade in the up position, didn't think I would need a certain piece of protective equipment that was in my hockey bag at the time, always good to have the lift lever on the 8 speeds in the down position just to be safe. 3 1 1

Excellent point and advice that I always follow. Note, the lever is down.
Lagersolut 743 #7 Posted December 24, 2019 The previous owner of the 416 8 I picked up was using the steering wheel and PTO lever to get on and off the tractor . Had to be a pretty big person - steering wheel is bent - dash was cracked - steering shaft bushing was broke as was the PTO lever bushings . Put a lot of time in the hood stand getting things right/ solid again .

Very nicely done Eric I couldn't have said it and done it better myself this is exactly how I jump on my horse.

Stepney 2,354 #15 Posted December 25, 2019 No trouble with that here, folks! I have solved the issue. See.. you just train your horse to do it's work alone. Then you get one of these nifty little devices, walk over it, and sit down! 2
Wishin4a416 2,192 #16 Posted December 25, 2019 It can be a chore with slippery floorboards and a cab on for sure.
Lane Ranger 11,448 #17 Posted December 25, 2019 I have never seen a lot of 110 pound jockeys riding these horses in the many years I have been going to shows! Any I confess to not being one of those 110 pound jockeys by a long shot! I think that may have something more to do with the "mounting the horse issue" ! Stormin 9,985 #18 Posted December 25, 2019 (edited) I get on as Eric shows. But when getting off I swing my right leg over the steering wheel. While still seated BTW. Edited December 25, 2019 by Stormin
Pullstart 67,082 #19 Posted December 26, 2019 Springer seats take a Lot of the bulk away for swinging the leg over The low back seats are another good option. This does remind me, I need to add a jounce pad of some type to Frank. His seat spring is mounted “backwards” like a Cub Cadet and I have pinched my leg plenty on the transmission tunnel. If the seat didn’t come down so far... that wouldn’t be an issue. I see a seat spring like @Achto‘s McLean some day!
