jeff raider 10 5 #1 Posted November 23, 2019 Hello Wheelhorse Family, I have a 1969 raider 10. The dash is cracked and i want to replace it.I pulled the pin on the steering wheel and put a wheel puller on but it does not move. I dont know what i am doing wrong. I need some fresh ideas. thanks jeff
Achto 29,433 #2 Posted November 23, 2019 Did you remove the 1/4" roll pin that holds the wheel on to the shaft? Even after you remove the pin the steering wheel can still be a PITA to remove. Lots of penetrating fluid and persistence will be in order. I have had to remove the wheel, shaft and dash as an assembly & press the shaft out of the wheel with a hydraulic press in some cases.

ohiofarmer 3,379 #7 Posted November 28, 2019 Remove the whole unit, cut the shaft before the steering gear and then weld it back together. You asked for ideas. Maybe this one is the last resort

WHX?? 51,916 #12 Posted January 12, 2020 (edited) Relax fellas I reported the guy.. Rite of passage as @953 nut would say... steering wheels, hubs & hitch pins! I modified my press apron to be able to get the whole dash in but yes some guys cut the shaft and couple it back together. check the lower pinion to see if it's one that is pinned or welded. I have gotten lucky with one that was pinned but most were welded. Edited January 12, 2020 by WHX24
