M10 muffler on an M16

Recommended Posts

I have a muffler and elbow from a M10 that I would like to install on an M16.  Will it fit, and do all Kohler K/M series engines have the same 1 1/2" exhaust port?  Also, does anyone have any tricks for changing the crankshaft seals on these motors?  Thanks. Bill.

Crank seals? Honestly never seen a K or Magnum with that issue. You sure your crankcase breather is good?
As for the muffler. I seem to think my 16hp K series has a reducer in the factory exhaust. 1 3/4-1 1/2" maybe? I know it's not the same as my 12hp. Haven't had a 10 in a while so I cant answer that one.

There was 25' of rope wrapped around the crank between the pulley and the seal.  The seal appears to be damaged.  The breather seems fine.

Here's a good tool  that is helpful to remove the crank shaft seals .
