Wheelhorse Wes 279 #1 Posted November 9, 2019 So I was wondering if there’s still someone on here doing the 953 registry ....I’m supposed to be picking up a tractor at the beginning of December. The gentleman sent me a picture of the serial number tag I was shocked to be honest 62- 627 its missing that unique steering wheel and some other parts but still it’s an early
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 10,478 #2 Posted November 9, 2019 Added to the list. Click on the picture We are often asked where the serial numbers are on the tractors. Have started to add photos of them to the file pages and used your's. Thank You. Garry 1

Guest 88vic #4 Posted November 10, 2019 I always have loved the looks of this model. It commands attention and just looks plain tough. One day I hopefully will come across one to snag up. Maybe someone will want one of mine and trade. Congrats Wheelhorse Wes !
Wheelhorse Wes 279 #5 Posted November 10, 2019 I totally agree they look “tough” that’s why they are my favourite model. My first 953 (fan gear, regular steering wheel) was my 4th Wheelhorse and actually now that I think of this my FIRST Wheelhorse I actually bought. Saved it from the back corner of a lawnmower junkyard.

Wheelhorse Wes 279 #7 Posted November 10, 2019 (edited) Now this tractor I’m buying is missing the “key” parts. Steering wheel(diamond Center one) the starter generator belt guard, gear shift frame inspection panel, hood, grill, one head light “bucket” is broken and missing a lens, pto clutch, and finally the air breather. If ANYONE on here has or knows of someone with the diamond steering wheel and or Center cap I’m interested in buying it....thanks in advance...WES tractor comes with the 54” dozer blade Edited November 10, 2019 by Wheelhorse Wes

Kainer Boats used a very similar steering wheel for a couple of years in the '60s. Most of the rest can be used from a 1054 or late 953; starter generator belt guard, gear shift frame inspection panel, hood, grill. @GlenPettit sells the headlight lens and the bucket is the same as the 1962 HL-22 lights, but they are hard to find. Happy hunting. Edited November 10, 2019 by 953 nut fat finger
Wheelhorse Wes 279 #10 Posted November 11, 2019 I’ve got the later style 953, 1054, 1054A.....I had a 1054 parts tractor I took the good parts from but like you are saying 953 nut that steering wheel is going to be very hard to find.
Pullstart 59,548 #11 Posted November 12, 2019 @Wheelhorse Wes Are you coming to MI to pick it up?
Herder 2,354 #12 Posted November 12, 2019 I believe that this old girl is an early production 953, it still has the ross steering box in place, but all of the other key items are missing. kind of typical. At the time of the purchase I hadn't realized what it was. Guess I should submit a photo of the tag.
