Mickwhitt 4,151 #28 Posted June 14, 2020 It seemed to run ok, but then when it cut out when warm it would not fire for anything. I took some advise from the vintage garden machinery site and wound up starting from scratch with the magneto timing. It's an odd way to set up the timing but it involves setting the piston to 5/32 prior to TDC and getting the points to just start opening. I'm not used to these clunky old two stroke motors so a deal of cussing and patience was required to work through a method of doing it. Now she runs and starts just fine, much better than before. No missing and backfiring now. That saved me about 100 dollars on a new ignition system.
Mickwhitt 4,151 #29 Posted June 14, 2020 This is her running today, much smoother and more controllable. The shaking is the cutter bar zooming back and forth causing the machine to sway. Nothing I can do about that but it cuts and runs so I am delighted. 1
