The Tuul Crib 7,339 #1 Posted October 26, 2019 I found these Two 16 Horse kohlers off of Facebook marketplace one of them is definitely a wheel horse motor the other one so I'm told might possibly be a gravely? Ended up paying 220 for them both . The wheel horse one he told me that it was board 30 over. And I'm thinking that I hope whoever did it knew what they were doing. 6

The Tuul Crib 7,339 #4 Posted October 26, 2019 Not known yet. These were just one of those things I saw and had to save. I am looking for a roller right now so time will tell ! I took the 12 horse off my 312-8 and sold the rest as a roller. I'm rebuilding it to put on Irv right now. So I'll have that 14 horse that's off of lrv As another rebuildable. The 12 only had 700 hrs on it and is in great shape!
The Tuul Crib 7,339 #5 Posted October 26, 2019 I have two frames and plenty of other parts laying around to build another one from scratch . Only problem is it may not have a model number !! Sort of a Franken horse or Kevin this could be the Trojan horse! 1

gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,493 #9 Posted October 26, 2019 Is this what they call the low mount starter? Read about them but never saw one. Garry
Tractorhead 9,212 #10 Posted October 26, 2019 Two 16 horse? Whow.... That sounds to me like a perfect base for a project called „Doubleengine Frankentractor“... 😎 Possibly with a enlarged Frame as a 2 Seater.... 😁

Garry Yeah @oldredrider it said something about that being possibly off of a gravely That being a low starter amount

Yes it is but I actually got a little seat time cleaning up some leaves here and doing a little pressure washing afterwards now I'm sitting by the shop and it's not raining right now about 75°

Garry When I built the K321 for my C120 I accidentally painted up a low mount starter shroud.. Didn't know it until I went to bolt the regular style starter on! Found the starter for the shroud in the shop but it wasn't any good. I know my dad's Ditch Witch with a K321 on it has the low mount starter as well. Not sure exactly why they were ever a thing unless maybe for clearance on certain applications. Edited October 27, 2019 by ZXT

The Tuul Crib 7,339 #16 Posted October 28, 2019 Just pull the head off of the wheel horse motor of these two 16s . Still has crosshatching in it. And was bored 20 over. Carburetor rebuild and cleanup should run right? 1 1

The Tuul Crib 7,339 #18 Posted October 29, 2019 Well I got home last night and decided to tear into one of these 16 horse that I picked up. Not the orange one but the red one. Came apart rather quickly and didn't take long before I was looking at the Balance gears that were in it. This was a ticking time bomb ready to go! The outer balance gear wiggled from side to side!

I'm assuming they had to balance gears in these as well
The Tuul Crib 7,339 #21 Posted October 29, 2019 So now I started tearing down the other 16 horse and wow! Here's what I found inside the motor besides The balance gears . 1

Man, looks like a mouse has definitely been in there! I know mice can squeeze to fit in pretty small spaces, but man! How did it get in there? Oil dip stick left out maybe? But I'm thinking this helped keep the moisture level down inside the motor !
The Tuul Crib 7,339 #24 Posted October 29, 2019 This motor still has the hatch marks in the cylinder with a standard size piston still in it so it is in pretty good shape no problem in getting this one running.

Looks like it didn't hurt much of anything but I certainly wouldn't advise storing an engine without oil in both the crankcase and block. I'd just be sure to get all of the residual debris out of it!
