As long as you don't have a significant other whose favorite bath towel you just stole, I think it's a great idea.

Nothing foolish about taking an extra step to protect newly painted rims!

Looks like a good idea :handgestures-thumbupright:

I do it the easy way and just don't paint anything! No worries about any scratches or dings and no wiping anything down with a diaper. :D

Well John you know I only have one so it is easy to keep it looking good. Or good as it gets.

Just mess'n with ya Gary. Actually, that's a good idea if you have clean painted rims. Are you gluing the rags on to the weights?

Nice paint ! I agree with you.  I used to buy German machinery and work with them setting it up in our shop. They had a great saying; "It not only has to work good, but it has to look good too." :text-yeahthat:  How about some dense foam with adhesive on the back like they use for weather stripping?  They sell pads of dense foam with an adhesive on the back at Lowes, HD, etc.

Just give the paint time to harden properly or you could get imprints off the towel.

I have a set of gnarly rims I use weights on. I painted the weights. Guess what?  The paint came off the weights onto the gnarly wheels.:D

towel or similar material might retain moisture and/or (eventually) break down

therefore not ideal ?

different material might be better ?

I painted them this spring and they sat all summer. I do not use this much in the summer.

I have had many ZXT in the past. I do not mow with it. Just a plow tractor.

Tom I take the weights off in the spring. If this does not work I will get another set of tires and rims.

Mike I thought I would try it. When I take them off in the spring I will see if it worked. If not buy another set of tiers and rims.
