RJR49 138 #1 Posted October 7, 2019 I was watching the movie and Google it to see how much was real. One of the links was a video of the TV show "This Is Your Life" featuring Desmond. One of the gifts they gave him...... Wait for it... ... Was a Wheel Horse! For those that don't know, Desmond Doss was a conscientious objector that was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor 3 1
Pullstart 67,084 #2 Posted October 7, 2019 That movie was such a great way to learn about our history, and so touching how he gained the respect of his platoon and became such a war hero!
Racinbob 11,989 #3 Posted October 7, 2019 I never heard of Desmond Doss and just did a quick search. WOW! He's the definition of American hero. I'll definitely be learning more about him.

RJR49 138 #8 Posted December 1, 2019 (edited) One of my favorite places to visit courtesy of Uncle Sam was Korea. Being a Marine I was well versed in the fight at the Chosin Reservoir, but Marine "History and Traditions classes never mentioned Hacksaw Ridge. (that was an Army fight). The Choisin was too far North to pay tribute to Chesty and the rest of the 1st Mardiv, but I would have liked to have been able to pay tribute to a MOH recipient if I had known Edited December 1, 2019 by RJR49 Didn't like the grammer
