Mickwhitt 4,151 #52 Posted November 5, 2019 I'm totally self taught pull start. By no means a precision engineer but I can make bits no problems. You American guys are pretty nifty with the ole mechanics too. I could not get hold of a gauge type fuel cap hence the modification. Just starting on getting the fuel tank sorted ready to fit. Mickwhitt 4,151 #56 Posted November 6, 2019 This was a lump of scrap when I got it. Complete strip down, repair and repaint got it to a usable and valuable machine. The finish is so much better than milling can produce and it's so relaxing watching it go about its work. Mickwhitt 4,151 #60 Posted November 6, 2019 Bit of a Heath Robinson lathe job this afternoon. The steering wheel had been bashed about a fair bit so I decided to try and tidy it up. That meant it had to go in my capstan lathe as it's the only one with enough centre height. I cleaned up the rim and turned the centre boss flat. Mickwhitt 4,151 #63 Posted November 7, 2019 This is the Ebay photo of my WH in North Wales. You can see the odd arrangement at the back end. No seat tray or mudguards, roll bar fitted. It looks a home made set up but I'm no expert on WH machinery. The lights look right but are fitted in a metal frame to protect them, seat was original but damaged so I fitted a new Toro one. I am not certain, but I think some of the tillers had a belt running through that area with another belt guard. Also, that ROPS bar is not factory at all. Mickwhitt 4,151 #69 Posted November 11, 2019 So, quite a busy weekend for me with running the home boarding business so not much done on the WH project. But, The seat tray is in for shot blasting and priming. The bonnet will go for the same tomorrow. Lots of bits and bobs primed ready for painting. Seat support and tank refitted. Shoukd all start coming together pretty quickly from now on. Then it will be setting up the engine which I'm hoping wont be too much of a PITA. Not done much today as it was our community tidy up of an area of waste land opposite our home. I have formed a group to try and make the area a nicer place.
