I’ll end up building a shield for the proximity switch.... but it functions!  Now I’ll grab a big ole piece of oak and see if it’ll grunt through!

but for that picture i would suggest left and right set an improvement build as a triangle,

to expand the forces a bit more to a bigger area, what was definitively given by the Metalplates.

Ain’t doubt your weldings itself will last, but to split in Winter this sizes, when its frozen and temp. reaches the -10degC and deeper

will be stressed the material much more, so a bit more safety i would suggesting.

The free space give you the place for, even you have enough gap to the cylinder

In all honesty, I didn’t build to my plans.  The back of the X brace was supposed to be the back of the slide plate too.  For some reason I forgot about that until I finished welding it.  I planned to have a log sit on the slider to give it some rake at the splitting wedge, to hopefully pierce the wood a little at a time.  I lost about 3” of travel on the hydraulics this way too.  But, I’m using what I had available to me or already in the shop, and it’s working for now.  If it breaks, I’m out time, electricity and welding supplies. :handgestures-thumbupright:

The xbrace give you an improoved stability, that‘s for sure.

👍

i just mentioned.

There was a huge force, if your plate go on Block, whilst a bigger branch was in the woods you’re cutting.

😉
