I'going to guess that the race car hubs had a pilot that was a close fit to the center hole in the wheel. Looks like the go cart hubs do not. Without a pilot, the clearance between the studs and bolt holes leave a possibility for run out in the assembly. It’s been quite a while, but I think they were just close tolerance on the studs, likely 1/2” instead of 7/16”. I recall if they got buggured up, they were a bear to pop off the studs. I finally counterbored (by eye instead of with an indicator or pilot of any kind) the lug nut holes with an end mill. Pullstart 59,735 #62 Posted May 1, 2020 Linkage works too! I made the pedal have less throw and the best part is that I (a below average height adult) can still operate the forward control. Now to duplicate for the brake. I’ll likely build the linkage opposite so there is more brake throw for better control. Pullstart 59,735 #67 Posted May 18, 2020 And the saga continues... the girls asked grandpa if they can ride the dirt bike that’s here still after they moved out 3 years ago. “Make sure you wear a helmet and you can get it running!” we have good spark, but the fuel system is in terrible shape!
