gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,528 #4 Posted September 6, 2019 Here is what we have on the B-85. Look through them all because they are mixed up. There is a 1982 operator manual but the B-85 is not in it. Just the B-115. https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/search/?&q="b-85"&type=downloads_file&search_and_or=or Could you post any model and serial numbers on this tractor including the engine. There is conflicting info on what years the B-85 5-speed was built. Garry
MAWHguy2019 21 #5 Posted September 6, 2019 Thanks everyone. From what I understand the B-85 was only produced in 1982. Per the WH Interchange the model is 02-08BX01 Here is picture of the front of the manual that I believe I need. Finally, does anyone have any info on these models? gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,528 #6 Posted September 6, 2019 Do you know what the number of that manual is? The B-85 shows up in the lube charts for 1982 and 1983. It is also in the engine usage service bulletin 1982 and 1983. Toro lists manual 810302 for the B-85 and that is the one we have but The B-85 is not in it. They also list 810262 and 810271 manuals for the B-85. Garry
MAWHguy2019 21 #7 Posted September 6, 2019 Upon review i believe the manual number it is 810262. Additionally, you are correct. The B-85 was also made in 1983. The model number is the same (02-08BX01). Not sure why the 810262 manual is difficult to find?
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,528 #8 Posted September 6, 2019 Do you have serial number of the tractor? It was possibly built late in the model year and why it missed the manual we have. Garry
MAWHguy2019 21 #9 Posted September 9, 2019 Here is a picture of the plate: I cannot find anything on this. Thanks for you help Garry
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,528 #10 Posted September 9, 2019 I can not read the serial number that follows the model number. Looks like 14323. let us know what they are. Tried to add your numbers to the list. The 4 digits below that look like 1342 - That is the Julian build date and if correct is the 342nd day of 1981 We do not have much on it but click on the fuzzy picture below. This is what comes up on a 02-08BX01 search. Look through all 22 of them. https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/search/?&q="02-08bx01"&type=downloads_file&search_and_or=or Garry
MAWHguy2019 21 #11 Posted September 9, 2019 Thank you Garry for this information. The numbers you have stated appear to be correct. That is interesting about the Julian stamp date. I did not know that is what those were. So this appears to be an early 1982 unit, made at the end of 1981 (December 8?). Let me know if you want any other photos for reference and I will be sure to send along.
MAWHguy2019 21 #12 Posted September 9, 2019 Was able to get a photo of the engine block with model numbers to add to the list.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,528 #13 Posted September 9, 2019 The engine appears to be original to the tractor - 191707-1136-02 81120212 code number 81 = 1981 12 = 12th month December 02 = day of the month 12 I think is the shift that built it. No doubt it would land on a 1982 model tractor. The 1982 model tractors would have been released in October of 1981 just like autos are today. Gives them a jump-start on new-model sales. MAWHguy2019 21 #14 Posted September 12, 2019 Thanks for this information Garry. It is really interesting to hear the history behind the model numbers and how these tractors were put together by Wheel Horse. I never thought about the release date aspect. In doing some research this model was made at the time American Motor Company owned Wheel Horse before selling to Munn Investments. Interesting to think that a car manufacturer owned this business.
