Kohler k90 no start

Any one near the brodheadsville area that is good with the kholer k90? It is on my rj59 I bought the tractor with a non running engine. I had to buy a new carburetor for it because the original carb was so badly pitted inside. But I still can not get it started I checked for spark and I dont have any. I seen the replacement ignition components but they say you need to modify them to fit. Can anyone help me get it running right?

@Shed Check this site for ignition parts. Coils, points, & condensers that don't need alterations.http://www.psep.biz/store/kohler_engine_parts.htm

Make sure that you set the points gap using the static timing meathead, you'll be amazed how much difference it makes. Also down load a free Kohler manual from here, it will help you through the repair.

Begin with cleaning the points contacts.

Some of those old K90s came with a Bendix coil. That type of coil will most likely be bad because the epoxy they used for manufacturing them cracks over time. Which is also why a new NOS one is probably dead to,  even if you could find one. The coil is under the flywheel so if cleaning the points and setting the gap doesn't produce a spark, you should have a look see under the flywheel.
