70 Raider 12 (project!)

This started in ‘12 or ‘13.. it’s been a long time!! Ahh well!!👍 it was green paint with yellow wheels!!, and I could NOT stand a wheel horse to look like that. It was started by the key switch, (no selenoid).. and I re wired the whole thing. This year, I have bought things off eBay.. selenoid, key switch and carb rebuild kit. And stuff I have not found... which is the choke bracket!! Here’s the pictures I have so far.

Looks good so far. I have a couple of 12 horse engine in the shed. Maybe I have a choke bracket... You should definitely get a screen on that flywheel as well.

I'll be looking forward to seeing your progress...

The choke bracket is little more then a bent piece of sheet metal, in the worse case.
I might have one up in my shed, too. I'll have a peek around.

Do you have the air filter housing?

The choke bracket, it looks like, the bracket goes off the coil. Right between the carb and the coil.... oh ya... and especially with two youngsters running around, ill get a screen on that flywheel!👍

I'll take a look and see if I have a spare one. Yours for the freight cost if you want it unless you want to drive down for a visit... Or go to the meet and greet in Berwick

Haha!! Nope! I’m way up by Bangor! I want tracking info! My zip code is 04428. How do you want to be paid? Venmo or PayPal?

PayPal works fine. Let me make sure I have one here and I'll get back to you.

@AHS

I guess I can't really help you out after all. The one I knew I had down there is for a much smaller Tecumseh and not the 12-horse Kohler that I thought.

Give Lincoln at A to Z tractor a call.....

The first picture I had posted, of key switch. I’m thinking completely insulated yellow female post ends. Because what if, sometime when I’m riding along, the wires will touch each other.... what have you done with your key switch?

I can take a couple pictures for you later today if you like. On one or two of ours are used a replacement 5 pin connector so as to keep the wire terminals insulated from the gas tank.

All of our gas tanks are metal so obviously I would rather not have them get into any arguments with bare terminals.

In your case, you can take those five wires and tie them together fairly close to the switch with a zip tie. I've done that as well.

I have also used slightly oversized heat shrink tubing which will go over the end of the terminal and also over the yellow connector itself. Then shrink it down in place so it forms a good insulator.

Those are not a big expense. $9 or $10 off of the popular auction site. I got a link from Richard, @953 nut

No, I jumped it, and the starter spun. I’m gonna take the S lead off the ignition switch and touch the positive on the battery... that otta make the starter spin!

Is that shiny new solenoid grounded properly?

Ok! Those two male prongs.. even if there at the same point continuity wise? I mean I have put a meter on the two of these, and there at the same point. One goes to ground (-) and one goes to S (+)? Won’t that break a fuse? I know what you mean.

Well I guess the tractor doesn’t work now. I will ground the other terminal and see what happens!😄

I guess you were right! 953 nut! Hooked the ground up and it turned over!👍 here’s a picture of the Raider 12, and my celebratory beer, slowly getting back together! I will get all of the wires net and out of the way. The 5 pin connector, that hooks to the key switch, I heard you have them @953 nut. Can you send me a picture?

Ordered it! All set with the wonky, non insulated female clip idea! A rubber connector would be much appreciated! Now I can get the choke cable piece... I think I’m going to have to make it...
