grinchsr 647 #1 Posted August 17, 2019 Picked up a 418-8 and want to replace the filter but I want to use the correct one. I know the micron rating is important so the pump can pull the fuel with out straining.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,489 #2 Posted August 17, 2019 Neither the tractor parts lists or the engine parts lists list a fuel filter. Have used the clear automotive plastic filters for both gravity and pumped fuel systems with no problem. Have heard of problems but suspect the tiny filters may starve fuel in gravity systems because they are so small. They get around the problem by using a coarser filter medium. 19richie66 17,644 #3 Posted August 17, 2019 I run a napa 3011 filter on all mine. No issues. On a 418 you might want to put a check valve somewhere in line to keep the fuel from draining back to the tank since it is lower than the pump. I put a 1/4” primer bulb from a marine tank on mine. Works great. Pump it till you feel it’s full and it fires right up.
