Pullstart 71,463 #576 Posted October 28 Things did not go my way Sunday night. I’ve been a bit under the weather and shouldn’t have even been out there to be honest with myself. I saw a little buck running around an hour or two before dark. I saw him again about 40 minutes before dark, in another direction, moving quick both times. Just before dark, two does came out of the neighbor’s corn and pinned me in my tree most immediately. It’s like they know I’m there and look first. I think I have a plan to relocate to a more secluded tree next season. The bigger one gave me a shot, almost identical to my doe a few weeks back. I let an arrow fly, and my bottom limb (cam?) smacked the ladder stand seat and my arrow went bouncing under her. At least it was a clean miss. I did the walk of shame to get my arrow after the fled, and went inside. I hung my bow up on a nail in the rafters of the pool shed, and it decided to fall to the concrete, landing on that bottom cam. I walked inside the house and don’t have plans to bow hunt any more this season.

Pullstart 71,463 #578 Posted Wednesday at 03:34 PM (edited) I finally had time to get my bow into the shop for inspection. The owner told me to go deburr the cam edges and shoot it. It’s not damaged, just a little roughed up. There’s something to be said about a shop owner who turns down a potential sale for no reason. I bought $23 worth of merchandise as a thanks, and am heading to the tree stand! Edited Wednesday at 03:35 PM by Pullstart 2
Pullstart 71,463 #579 Posted yesterday at 12:32 AM Got a limpy 5 point tonight. I’d say I did it out of mercy. 1
Pullstart 71,463 #580 Posted yesterday at 10:12 AM I watched this buck for about 20-30 minutes, and he was having a hard time getting around. It took him that long to make it about 100 yards. He walked right under me, where I was positioned to the wrong side of the tree and had to do a spin with him practically on my ladder. I drew, and the arrow came off the string. That was a debacle but he stayed. It was like the right thing to finish him off and it was a quick unplugged heart shot.
Pullstart 71,463 #581 Posted 9 hours ago Soaked an arrow with this dandy 8 point last night. The rain was heavy and the film says I shot high. We looked for hours and lost the small drops of blood at about 150 yards from my stand. I have some permission from the neighbors but I have no idea what direction he went. We spot checked around the swamp in the general direction, but I think he was heading in a different place personally. I had a few buddies help track, and after three hours of no blood we gave up for the night. I’m heading to my stand now to enjoy the morning. Until I have resolve, I feel like the right thing to do is keep that buck tag on hold. Does in my sights this morning.
Pullstart 71,463 #582 Posted 9 hours ago Still frames from the video of calling him in. He was over 200 yards away when I grunted and he ran straight towards me. Took a break to hit the ground scrape and the tree branch, and I called him in again.

Pullstart 71,463 #584 Posted 2 hours ago Happy ending! He turned 90 degrees from last blood and headed for cover. My neighbors came out to help track him and one of them just stumbled upon him tangled in the grapevine. 2
