When my Amish neighbor bought the farm and started raising sweet corn and cantaloupes , I reduced the population by about 20 every year for three years as they were feasting on his new tender plants. His 6yo son watched me for a couple years and he now does the trapping. Like a live trap, or a snap your back trap? I am afraid the cats might get into a kill trap. SylvanLakeWH 31,673 #511 Posted 45 minutes ago Groundhogs are a nuisance species here in Michigan. Sure you can trap them live, but you cannot transport them anywhere else and release. From State website: Woodchucks may be live trapped, but cannot be moved off the property they were trapped. https://www.michigan.gov/dnr/managing-resources/wildlife/nuisance-wildlife/groundhog-woodchuck Legal to kill without a permit in Michigan.

I live trap them, administer a dose of lead and return them to thier burrow. They are more than a nuisance. The burrows are a real danger to the horses and people. I spent seven days in the hospital with a shattered knee when I stepped in a hole while pheasant hunting. Edited 30 minutes ago by Ed Kennell
