Duane de 1 #1 Posted August 8, 2019 Bought this 87, 310-8 m-12 about a yr agp. Noticed rings are worn and runs a little doggie. Had a guy start the rebuild process. Of course he reassured me he could do it and have it done within a week. Im sitting here roughly 6 months later all apart and now i have to do it myself. Downloaded pdf's. Watched a video or 2 and find myself stuck on this little black grommet or something of the sort that im not sure where its placement is. Sorry guys for rambling. Just hoping maybe someone can direct me to some web sites for idiots like myself that can really dumb this down for me so i can have my mower back. THANK YOU.
JAinVA 4,636 #2 Posted August 8, 2019 (edited) The only place this part may go is a spacer in the breather assembly.Definitely not an internal engine part. Edited August 8, 2019 by JAinVA

wallfish 17,695 #4 Posted August 9, 2019 to RedSquare You should start with the Kohler M series SERVICE manual. It will have some step by step instructions and you can always ask particular questions here on RS.
Achto 29,061 #5 Posted August 9, 2019 The manual does a good job of walking you through the rebuild process.
Duane de 1 #6 Posted August 9, 2019 Ok, ill give that one a shot. I think the real problem is and was the manual i downloaded was just truly really crummy photos. Couldnt tell whixh way was up or down. Of course it was in blurred black and white. And last but not least my daughter decided to help dear old dad out and do some spring cleaning. Ive gpt like 3 five gallon buckets of miscellaneous nuts, bolts, washers, and ect... , she ended up putting them in all 3 buckets so it really helped my stress level. Alrighty, enough about that. THANK YOU so very much. I hope i have better luck with this manual.
Duane de 1 #7 Posted August 9, 2019 Achto thanks man, the pics do seem a little clearer them the site i got the manuals off from. Ive gotten quite a ways since last night. I need to drop piston and rings in the valves and start my journey forward on attempting to having it run by this werkend. Im mechanically inclined just not too awfully sure on the timing. I guess only time will tell.
