What are you mowing with?

Recommended Posts

Pullstart

There’s quite a broad range of what does the job here, maybe we should mention how much grass needs trimming?  I went with the zero turn because I actually felt like I just couldn’t keep up with the C-101 and the 42” RD.  I mow somewhere around 3 - 3-1/2 acres.  I could mow for 3-1/2 hours and not be satisfied with the appearance of the lawn.  Now, I’m done in less than an hour.  It might be a tad longer now, with 37 more trees than last year, but I can only imagine how much longer that would have taken with the tractor.  I tried convincing my wife that we should let the front half of the yard grow between us and the road, but that was a loosing battle.

The majority of the time I cut grass with my 315.  It is a great machine, I just wish it would turn a little bit tighter.

The majority gets done with the 05 Classic GT. I like to use the 76 B-160 for the paths. It won't surprise any of you but the fact that I'm running the 76 48" deck on the 05 Classic and the 42" from the 05 on the 76 has raised some eyebrows to the non Wheel Horse friends. :D

I cut 5-6 acres between my place and a couple neighbors lots with my 416 H with 48" deck down in Mathews Co. on the Bay. The grass is almost always tall and thick as we are just above sea level down there so unless we have drought conditions the grass never seems to get dry and slow down, The 314 mainly does trailer duty now, and I took the C160 with 42" deck back home to cut my grass and my son's grass. That's still my favorite machine to mow with.

Glad to see a couple of you using other brands :eusa-whistle: ....I’m one of those guys as well. So probably 70% is done with my Craftsman with a 46” deck and a triple bagger setup and 30% is done with my WH C-105 with a 42SD.

That’s my dad mowing my yard with the C-105 last year when I was laid up with a leg infection.

I am surprised you can run that 42" deck without the deck wheels hitting the rear tractor tires.

I can only run 48 or 60 decks on my later model 520's

How/ what did you do to attach the attach o mastic to your 1057? I’m talking about the mule drive! @The Tool Crib I have a 1970 Raider 12, and I can’t figure out how, without some extensive machining!

These are the exact two brackets I have on the front of my 1067. Then you can attach the meal drive to it . There's a left and a right bracket

Ok! Cool! Now are the brackets available on eBay? Or are they custom made? I have the 1 & 2 top bracket ( the early attach o matic!)

I'm not really sure on how to get these but somebody that has access to a metal shop can probably fabricate  these pieces.

It just so happened when I bought this tractor they were on it. I believe these brackets were an option for the older tractors to adapt to a newer deck .

I have to say that that particular John Deere and the 112 were great machines. When these were built it was a time of quality. Such as Wheelhorse , Ford , John Deere , and a host of others !
