Final inspection day!  He’ll be here in an hour and hasn’t yet seen it in person!  We did a design change on the legs, to keep it as close to the ground as possible.  I’ll cut some 1/8” plate to place under the set screws, to push against the carpet floor.

:confusion-confused:    I think I would use a hex head cap screw, unless the floor is perfectly level you will need some adjustment.

The set screws are 1/2” long and should allow for an 1/8” to 1/4” adjustment and still support the assembly... I hope!

Within a week or two, I’ll have the wood top married to this.  I still haven’t seen the wood... and I’m so excited!

:confusion-confused:         Lets see, 700 pounds +/- of steel.   Probably that much wood weight added to that!   How are you planning to move it into the meeting room it will be used in?              Levitation?

Image result for levitation

Ah the old brute strength and ignorance method.  Done that a few times myself and have a few people I call to help with it sometimes too.

Been an interesting project to watch, can't wait to see it with the top on it.  I really enjoy seeing different things like this being made.

Sneak peak of the slab!  This was my first glimpse of the rest of the story!  I built some quick straps to help prevent cupping and separating on the ends of the seam and used the threaded inserts to hold one end down for now.

Whow, buddy what a cool lookin.

A big advantage is, a theft protection is maybe not needed, because of weight..  😂👍

How you like to protect the Surface ?
Using Oil, Wax or Clearcoat?

They are using a dark oil.  I should have taken a picture of the cabinetry because it was all milled out of the same tree!  I will once it’s complete!

Nice lookin slab! It all turned out great !

So whats the next project? I have a nice

3 foot diameter  sycamore tree that fell during the last storm we had!  If you look closely you can see a black and tan on

tap! I mean on top!

If I had anything to do with it, it wouldn't be going to any sawmill. :chores-chopwood:
