Recently picked up a 312-8 with a Kohler M12 engine.  The dip stick is broken could someone tell me how much oil it takes.

Better get a dipstick. How would you check level afterwards without.

So if the dip stick is broken, has the broken part been removed?

I was going to ask the same question.  I just buy it a year ago and haven't changed the oil yet.  I left it under cover for the summer, as I havea cub cadet 1650 ( I refer to it as chittty chitty bangbang).  Couldn't find a mule and mower deck for the wheel horse.  It is my first love, as tractors go.  Thank you for the information.

I use straight 30w in the summer.   I think that's what is recommended for summer time if your gonna use it for mowing...just mt 2ct...
