cafoose 3,448 #1 Posted July 6, 2019 I went to harbor freight and bought one of their portable sheds for some of my horses. I got the extended warranty so if anything happens to it in three years I get a new one! It tells you just to slip the pipes together but I put a duct work screw in each pipe and also screwed it to a heavy 4 x 4 frame to hold it down.
Achto 29,346 #2 Posted July 6, 2019 I've looked at getting one of those, The only thing that they are lacking is ventilation. I've heard some people complain about the condensation inside of those structures. You might wish to devise a way to add some gable vents.

ebinmaine 72,317 #5 Posted July 6, 2019 With an asphalt base you should have minimal condensation issue. We are finding that it's like a sauna on the hot days we've been having. We may consider adding a vent to ours.

After work last night I noticed condensation on the inside of the cover although it was raining when I got home. Yesterday morning as I was finishing up the inside I was sweating like a pig and I normally don't sweat much I believe I do need some sort of ventilation.

JoeM 8,272 #8 Posted July 6, 2019 Good buy on the extended warranty. My son and another person both had those and the lasted just a little more than a year. Keep the snow off too, not much support for snow load. I know my son would leave the front unzipped to leave air in and close it up during high wind.
WHNJ701 4,165 #9 Posted July 6, 2019 biggest issue is the snow load, I have a shelter logic that is 12 years old and has been moved to 2 different properties, I added some emt conduit along the roof. it sucks, but you have snow off asap, I also have the upgraded 10 year cover on it which is really heavy duty. elcamino/wheelhorse 9,362 #10 Posted July 6, 2019 I have been thinking about getting one from HF if I wait unit 25% discount coupon it is a great deal . I think if you put a moister barrier on the ground it would cut down on moister and rust problem.

Actually I tried using a 20% discount coupon and they said it does not apply to the shed if you read the small print
rmaynard 16,288 #12 Posted July 6, 2019 (edited) There are small openings in the gables, however on mine I added a little assistance. This is a cheap bathroom fan that is vented out the rear gable. Even though I have the ground covered with plastic, the humidity level gets so high that it "rains" even with the fan going 24/7. Most things that are not in sealed containers have been water damaged. I live within 20 miles of Cafoose, so the weather conditions are the same. As far as snow load, we have had some major snows within the last 3 years, and I have had no problems. Edited July 6, 2019 by rmaynard 1

Hopefully being on asphalt I won't have a lot of condensation I think when it's nice out I will leave the door up. Maybe a bigger fan than yours would be better? https://www.lowes.com/pd/Air-Vent-18-in-Dia-Electric-Gable-Vent-Fan/3143421 Maybe these on either end? https://www.lowes.com/pd/Master-Flow-20-75-in-x-26-75-in-White-Rectangle-Plastic-Gable-Vent/1000069555 Edited July 6, 2019 by cafoose

rmaynard 16,288 #15 Posted July 7, 2019 There isn't enough room for a big fan. That is why I used 4" inch flexible duct.
