The Tuul Crib 7,339 #1 Posted June 30, 2019 The cicadas are out and I’ve just noticed the last two days outside my shop door these shells. What time of year do they come out in your area?
WHNJ701 4,165 #2 Posted June 30, 2019 depends what type, there is a 13 year cycle and a 17 year. I think I remember reading parts of the mid Atlantic are expecting some of the 17 year ones

The Tuul Crib 7,339 #5 Posted June 30, 2019 A few years back here was an infestation of the little kritters. Your windshield would be covered with them.
WHNJ701 4,165 #6 Posted June 30, 2019 when we were kids my sister and I caught them and tied a piece a kit string to them and we flew them around, then we let them go 1
troutbum70 858 #7 Posted July 1, 2019 I know south western Pennsylvania fly fishermen were looking forward to their appearance, tying up some look a likes makes for great fishing.
ZXT 2,401 #8 Posted July 1, 2019 I haven't seen any shells yet, but I can hear a few outside now. They annoy a lot of people, but I personally enjoy sitting out on a warm summer night out in the country somewhere, listening to them and watching the lightning bugs. I know, I'm weird. 2
