Coulter Caleb 532 #1 Posted June 22, 2019 As you probably know and have heard I went to Lithuania on a missions trip. The plane ride over I got to read Louis Lamour books(Utah Blaine) for a while (about 9 hours) We then headed on another plane which was a two hour flight from Vienna to Vilnius and a bus ride from Vilnius to siauliai. After we got to our room and crashed for the day. We were so far north that it didn’t get dark until 10:00 and the sun rose at 4:00. the team from Oshkosh riding to the airport in the non air conditioned van! sharing popcorn at O’Hare with mom always a good sight when your suitcase shows up on the other side of the world! Don’t want to be without extra underwear too long! Outside the airport in Vilnius waiting on our coach bus to arrive. it was a cool building! 3
8ntruck 7,842 #2 Posted June 22, 2019 Enjoy your trip. You will find that you learn and grow on overseas mission trips. A couple of decades ago, I was a counselor for church high school youth groups. I've been on mission trips with various groups to Hungary, El Salvador, and Venezuela. What I learned is that people are just people the world over. Yes, customs and language are different, but that is what makes it so interesting. When my kids were in high school, we hosted a Finnish exchange student for a year. We've been to Finland a couple of times to visit him and get to know his family. I took one of my favorite pictures there. It is a sunset picture over Lake Olivari, facing north at 11pm!

Pullstart 66,815 #4 Posted June 26, 2019 @Coulter Caleb It is so cool that you were able to go to another country, help people and learn other customs! This world sure is grand, isn’t it? When I was 16 I was able to go to Croatia on a mission trip. I believe it was more of an impact to myself than the people we interacted with on a daily basis and will never forget some of the experiences within.... including not having fresh underwear for 3 days! That’s right, I was the only person in the group that had a lost suitcase for 3 days Since my teenage years, I’ve been back to Europe three other times and am very fond of world travel. America has so many things to teach us, but there are some places in the world that we just cannot compare to. My hat’s off to you and your family, for going into the world and doing good works!
Tractorhead 9,212 #5 Posted June 26, 2019 Have a lot of Fun at your Travel, be open minded and you will see, the World is just a Valley - as Pullstart said, shure there different Languages, sometimes different rules, but you will be mostly in the World recieved open minded. That was my experiences. To help others is a issue, that also expand you mind and build mostly friendships for lifetime, no matter about distances. Every mission bring both a benefit, once they give even they they recieve.
