Possible fuel pump replacement for 7hp kohler

Recommended Posts

mhlmeader

Hi folks, picked this up tonight. Hadn't been run in a few years. I got her started...ran like a kitten!!!! Problem is fuel was just pouring out from behind the fuel pump.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is a k161 engine, I do believe?.?.  Model 701 tractor.  I shut her down before I combusted accidently.  Is there a rebuild kit for this particular pump? Or am I gonna have to go with something new? Could ya point me in the right direction, thanks all!!:bow-blue:

Holy crap Buff that's a dang nice looking 701!... Little rough around the edges sure but that's to be expected.  I'll  be right over to get it! :ychain:

Fuel pump is totally rebuildabe  or replace with a plastic one ... that girl deserves a rebuild kit to try and stay orginal plus that pump has the primer lever. The fellas will post a link to get the rebuild kits. Bigger worry might be the way the regulator is jammed up against the fuel tank. Don't much care for that.

No matter you got one to be saved there!:handgestures-thumbupright:

What kinda shape is the hood in?

This is the only place that reproduces rebuild kit for the metal body Kohler pumps. Or you can replace it with a new plastic one, yes all the new ones are plastic even the Kohler ones.

Definitely get that volt regulator turned around so that the terminals are not mashed against the fuel tank.

I should mention, the pump seemed to be working just fine, but it was leaking thru pretty good....GAS...WAS...EVERYWHERE....it could have pumped fuel into the tractor setting next to it!!

Do we have pics of the 603???

Get the oil changed out and refill if gas was getting into the crankcase

You guys don't think the paint stirrer insulator will keep those regulator terminals from shorting on fuel tank?
