bc.gold 3,399 #3 Posted June 5, 2019 Next time you purchase a socket that has one of these plastic things attached ask the store clerk to remove it for your, no one knows how they come off. Finally the guy at Napa clued me in, on each side you cut one tab off then give the plastic a twist and gentle pull. But them most of you guys already knew that. bc.gold 3,399 #4 Posted June 5, 2019 Working on a Ford Ranger needed a 12 mm 12 point wrench, bought a Jet brand and within the hour had the new wrench looking like a pretzel. Jet used to be a decent brand of tool, cheap enough that if your lost one you did not have to mortgage the farm to replace it, anyhow stamped on the wrench is Cr/Va. Which I would be led to believe stands for chrome vanadium. I took a no name brand marked chrome vanadium, old old craftsman and one of the new jet wrenches then ground a small spot then added a drop of nitric acid. The results of the acid test told me that I should be buying craftsman.
