bc.gold 3,406 #1 Posted May 22, 2019 (edited) A few nights back going out to my shop almost walked right into a black bear, when we first encountered this bear it was just a two year old that had left its mother now at four years has grown considerable. Our cat probably came across the same bear and decided a tree was the safest place to be, a black spruce and the cat spent all of yesterday in the tree apparently unable to make its way back down. Our ladder only goes 20 ft and the darn cat was another 40 or more. Thought to myself as I retired for the evening that I would commandeer the help of our volunteer fire dept in the morning if the cat was still stuck up in the tree. Cat is gone from the tree and is no where to be found, fleeing from one danger directly into another I think perhaps an Owl may have found an easy meal. Cats do not last more than a year on our property. Edited May 22, 2019 by bcgold
The Tuul Crib 7,339 #2 Posted May 22, 2019 A couple of weeks ago was a nite with the windows open enjoying the nite air. Well around three in the morning l heard what sounded like a very small dog barking. Kind of odd at 3 am for a small dog to. be out in the woods. At one point l heard the Owls going crazy and thats when the barking sounded farther and farther away! Im thinking the owls had a feast!
Pullstart 66,767 #3 Posted May 22, 2019 I planted about 1 acre of switchgrass in the back of the field, and let the other 5.5 acres grow naturally to help create a deer and other wildlife habitat. I imagine there are a lot more small creatures, because now we see 3 hawks almost all day. Luckily, they haven’t bothered the chickens or cats yet... I wish they would take better care of the chipmunks and rabbits.... maybe even a few moles!
CCW 1,379 #4 Posted May 22, 2019 I never worry about cats in trees. How many cat skeletons have you seen in a tree? 1

bc.gold 3,406 #6 Posted May 23, 2019 Cat showed up 8:30 this evening, looking for food and water dish's that Pat put away this morning. This cat appeared in our yard as a kitten two years ago. Issac Newton was right, what goes up must come down.
