2019 Big Show tractor games

Recommended Posts

wallfish

The GT mafia @WHX22 and @Achto posted a video a while back with a game of "chain piling" using tractors to run back and forth to pile a 30 ft piece chain. I couldn't find the post with the video but maybe Jim or Dan can post it?

I was think'n of bringing some chain so we can compete or do it just for fun at the Big show.

Couple of ways we can do it.

1) pile the chain in as short of a pile as you can within 2 minutes, then the pile is measured and the shortest pile wins. Donation $1 to enter

2) run a race with 2 chains and pile the chains within a 30 inch marker, the faster person wins the heat and takes on the next challenger. Looser pays the donation for both $2

*****WHCC gets all the proceeds. Side bets are up to the contestants and or spectators

Plus an extra chain or two for the kids play with.

One concern is people going as fast as they can on their tractors so not sure if WHCC will approve of this. I'd like to set it up on the infield and will use some yellow tape to "rope" it off.

Anyone have any input and or interest?

It seems to be an issue on youtube's end. I can't view it either.

I'm thinking you'd almost need to have two classes to stay competitive though, manual and hydro. A hydro tractor has a clear and drastic advantage running back and forth like that.

It's true that it is easier with a hydro and my 1076 is my chain pile tractor of choice. But I have also won against hydro's with my Raider 12 and my Suburban 400 Rat Rod.

We could also do a slow race out in the field. The last one to the finish line wins.

I'd loose that too. I don't have low range. :laughing-rolling:

If you plan to have any driving events at the Big Show I would suggest you contact the WHCC leadership. It is their show and their insurance probably prohibits competitive events, I just renewed our local club's show insurance and that is a NO-NO prominently listed on several pages.

We have the same issue at our annual show Richard.  Once a tractor is parked, it must remain parked, except with participation in our tractor parade or demonstrations.  In VA, children under 16 are not allowed to operate equipment on public grounds or roadways.  I'm just thankful that they are allowed to ride at the Big Show!

Probably just try it as a fun event for the kids to play with since there doesn't seem to be much interest.

We'll see how it goes once people see it.

Like the teeter totter?  I planned on hitting that last year, but I was too busy packing my truck!

Are donuts allowed to pile the chain?  Spin it up and let it fly!
